NASA Announcing ‘Major Martian Science Finding’ About Mars On Monday — Mystery Finally Solved

NASA is preparing to end a mystery and reveal a “major science finding” about Mars, and it’s going to be coming on Monday morning. It’s already been announced that director of planetary science, Jim Green, will be on hand with a host of others for the live press event.

According to IGN, Green will be joined by Michael Meyer, lead scientist for the Mars Exploration Program; Lujendra Ojha of the Georgia Institute of Technology; Mary Beth Wilhelm from NASA’s Ames Research Center; and, Alfred McEwen, principal investigator for the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE).

The information coming from NASA’s continued study of the red planet will happen on the morning of Monday, September 28, at 11:30 a.m. EDT.

It’s quite possible that the “major science finding” announcement could deal with RSL or recurring slope lineae. These are dark tendrils that appear annually on the surface of Mars during the warmer seasons and they then evaporate during the cooler months of the year.

Previously, Lujendra Ojha said that RSL could actually be some type of flows of salt water on Mars. The dark streaks may be water related, but continued studies have not yet proven those theories.

“We still don’t have a smoking gun for existence of water in RSL, although we’re not sure how this process would take place without water.”

The event is going to be carried in a variety of ways and the press conference can be watched over a couple of different channels.

NASA is hoping that there will be a large turnout to watch this mystery announcement unfolding on Monday, and they want interaction as well. The pubic can use the hashtag #ASKNASA to participate on Twitter.

The ongoing exploration of Mars by NASA is providing more and more information all the time, and they’ve been detailing them as they’ve gone on. At this time though, details of the Mars announcement have not been leaked in any way possible.

The fact that both the director of planetary science and lead scientist for the Mars Exploration Program will both be on hand is an indication that NASA is looking at this being something of high importance.

At this point, the mystery of what will be said and what”major science finding” will be revealed by NASA about Mars is unknown. Come Monday though, the press conference is going to announce something that could change the way space exploration has been looked at for years.
