Wedding Proposal Goes Viral, Worsens America’s Diabetes Problem

A wedding proposal gone viral has again reinforced the idea that marriage is not about commitment or grown-up responsibilities, but rather a Glee-like spectacle followed by a reality show planning phase and if your pre-wedding discussion didn’t involve a marching band, that’s just sad.

Okay, I don’t mean to get all cynical over the “wedding proposal goes viral,” but as was pointed out the propose-r Isaac Lamb, the elaborate set up to his question popping kind of puts dudes in an awkward position when they are faced with little resource to stage such a saccharine-sweet extravaganza.

It probably speaks to the continued Disneyfication of America that this sort of wedding thing always goes wildly viral when it occurs, because on some level, we all expect choreographed specialness to break out at every major life event.

Anyway, Lamb set up a large and fantastical bit of showmanship to propose to girlfriend Amy Frankel, set to Bruno Mars’ song “Marry You.”

Pairs of dancers appear behind the vehicle in which Frankel is sitting in the back, and several more appear. Soon a giant crowd of lip-syncers are dancing behind the small SUV, and a marching band joins the fray, as everyone joyously dances in the streets. Aw.

Lamb then makes an appearance, pledging to Frankel:

“You have already given me a lifetime of happiness… Will you let me spend the rest of my life trying to give you the same? Will you marry me?”

You can watch the wedding proposal gone viral below, would you be touched or embarrassed by such a public version of such a private moment?
