Brandi Glanville Is An Ideal Supporter For Former Co-Star Kim Richards

Former model and ex-Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville was back in the news this week as she spent lunch on Wednesday, reunited with other Real Housewives Kim Richards and Yolanda Foster. The occasion for the reunion of the three friends was Richards’ 51st birthday.

Richards has been through a tumultuous last several months, having been arrested for public intoxication in April and again for shoplifting at a Target store in August. According to a report by Us Weekly, she was briefly admitted to a hospital by concerned family members following the shoplifting incident. Brandi Glanville is a good supporter for Richards to have during her recovery, as she has gone through her own documented history of controversy and subsequent triumph in her personal life.

In 2009, Glanville went through a highly publicized separation and ultimately a divorce from ex-husband Eddie Cibrian amid rumors of his extramarital affairs, including one with his Northern Lights co-star LeAnn Rimes. The split was a devastating experience for Glanville, as she described it to William Shatner during an interview on Ora TV’s show Brown Bag Wine Tasting.

“It’s almost like a death. You mourn, you die a little bit. Who you were as a wife and a mother, you’re no longer that person.”

However, Brandi Glanville showed no lack of confidence in a televised 2013 confrontation with one of ex-husband Cibrian’s former mistresses, Scheana Marie. According to a previous Inquisitr report, when Marie broke down in tears early on in their conversation, a clearly irritated Glanville lashed out at her in response.

“Don’t cry, really. I lost my family. I lost everything that I had. So if anyone’s going to cry here it’s not going to be you. I know that you were f****** my husband, I get that. Look at where you are in your life and I’m in a better place – I win.”

Glanville and Richards could perhaps commiserate over getting past their respective divorces, as according to the Daily Mail, Richards also exchanged some heartfelt messages on her birthday with her ex-husband Monty Brison, her first husband with whom she separated in the 1980s. Brison has been reportedly battling cancer over the last year, an ailment that is also no stranger to Brandi Glanville.

In December of 2012, Bravo TV reported that Glanville was undergoing surgery to have a breast tumor removed. Although the tumor was benign, it was perhaps a motivation to become an advocate for cancer awareness and fundraising, as Glanville was named as a recipient of the Woman Of Achievement Award in May of this year by the Associates for Breast and Prostate Cancer Studies. While some criticized Brandi Glanville on social media, labeling her as undeserving of such an award, friends came to her defense and suggested her philanthropic activities largely take place outside of the TV spotlight.

One prominent disease-awareness fundraising group uses the mantra “awareness is at the beginning of every battle.” With her notable role in pop culture and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, it can’t be argued that Glanville has positively contributed to breast cancer awareness if nothing else.

Given the health struggles, romantic turmoil, and general life drama that Kim Richards is currently battling, having a friend like Brandi Glanville at her side is fortunate, as they both have dealt with similar personal turmoil in their lives.
