‘Abigail Hall Is My Life’: Man Gets Engaged To Girlfriend After Her Sudden Death, Posts Moving Photo

Abigail Hall was in the prime of her life when she suddenly, unexpectedly, and — at the time of this post — mysteriously, died.

Her boyfriend — four years her senior, who was living apart at the time while working as a tennis coach, the Daily Mail notes — slipped away from some friends to “FaceTime Abbs.”

When the call connected, however, it wasn’t his girlfriend on the other end, but a friend who told him that “Abbie was not breathing.”

Thompson details the rest in a gut-wrenching post to Facebook friends that has now gone viral.

“I got in a taxi and rushed to the airport. My dad called and told me…. Thank you to all the cabin crew, Matt Allen and Chris Martin, the support you gave me was amazing…. I arrived with Abbie’s family at 3:00am…. Yesterday myself and Joshua Hall went to select an engagement ring for Abbie, the plan was to do this next year after her first year at University. Josh chose well and I was able to have my moment with Abbs which I was so grateful for.”

Thompson “popped the question” to the parents of Abigail Hall and upon receiving permission, he had a touching “engagement photo” made of Abby wearing her ring and holding his hand.

“Abigail Hall… is my life,” he said in the post.

Thompson continued.

“Words can not express the love that I have for her, she was the reason I would wake up in the morning…. We connected so well, from the moment she tripped on an escalator in the Shard after 1 too many, to having the most hilarious sunburn after driving through France with the roof down…. Everything we did felt real, she would always be there with a smile on her face, and she could never do enough for me.”

The above engagement photo, available through Josh’s Facebook and taken by Ben Lack Photography Ltd., has definitely made an impact on the social networking site.

With 833 likes at the time of this post along with 1,862 shares, and hundreds of comments, Josh and Abby’s love has touched a lot of hearts. The reaction was summed up best by Josh’s aunt, Lisa Burdge.

“I knew Abi must be special when you said you wanted to introduce her to me and Nana. When I met her, I could see why. ‘What a beautiful girl,’ we said — not just on the outside, which was obvious, but inside too. ‘What a gorgeous couple, they seem perfect for each other,’ we said when you left. My heart was so full of joy for you, as you told us tales of your trip to Paris, and plans for the future. And now, my darling nephew your heart is broken. I feel fortunate that I got to meet the beautiful Abi and to understand how you feel for her. I cannot even begin to understand how you and Abi’s family must be feeling now. Your recent post broke our hearts.”
