Lady Gaga ‘Way Better’ Than Madonna, Says Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson – Amazing!

Lady Gaga has garnered much praise throughout her musical career, and the terms “innovator” and “unique” might even come to mind. However, “belter” has recently come out as a term to describe Lady Gaga and her singing voice, and it is a significant compliment coming from none other than a member of legendary metal band Iron Maiden. Lady Gaga recently said that she would sooner be called the next Iron Maiden than be compared to pop superstar Madonna, and needless to say, Iron Maiden’s lead vocalist Bruce Dickinson returned the favor.

“She can sing — she’s got a belter of a voice — [and] she’s a really good instrumentalist,” Dickinson said of Lady Gaga in a September 23 interview with Corus radio, according to Blabbermouth. “And, I mean, she’s got a great sense of drama. And anybody that could turn up to an awards ceremony dressed as a bacon sandwich gets my vote. I mean, she’s great.”

Lady Gaga recently drew headlines for saying she would never be impressed when people would call her the “next Madonna.” Mother Monster has never made any secret of her love of metal music and preferred drawing comparisons between her performances and those of Iron Maiden. “I always used to say to people, when they would say, ‘Oh, she’s the next Madonna.’ No, I’m the next Iron Maiden,” Lady Gaga said.

Interestingly, Bruce Dickinson noted that he agreed with Lady Gaga when she said she did not want to be compared to Madonna. “She’s way better than that,” he said, according to Billboard.

Lady Gaga also gained accolades for the recent release of “Til It Happens To You,” her latest song, which was featured in the documentary about campus rape called The Hunting Ground. Co-written by Lady Gaga and songwriting legend Diane Warren, the song chronicles the journey sexual assault survivors go through in trying to have their voices heard.

The video for the song is equally poignant and is challenging to watch, particularly for those who may be survivors of sexual assault. While Lady Gaga’s voice effectively narrates the story of four different rape victims, director Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) shows the struggle that each sexual assault survivor had to endure in going forward with their lives.

The video for “Til It Happens To You” is at No. 4 on the Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks chart. Surprisingly, it marks the highest ranking one of Lady Gaga’s videos has seen, according to Billboard. the highest rating ever for one of Lady Gaga’s videos. The four rape victims whose stories were seen in the video for “Til It Happens To You” penned letters to Lady Gaga and Warren and noted that since their stories were also featured in The Hunting Ground, their lives had changed. They said they were hopeful that the documentary and Lady Gaga’s video would go a long way to help sexual assault survivors.

“Imagine a survivor who, after hearing your song, no longer feels isolated or alone,” the survivors’ letter stated, according to Billboard. “Picture that survivor’s friend, telling that survivor that it’s not her fault…We want to thank you both for having the courage to write and perform this song and for allowing your talent, your music, your lyrics and your voices to tell our stories.”

Warren said that she was grateful that she could contribute to the healing that these sexual assault survivors were still going through.

“The letter from the survivors from the documentary The Hunting Ground that was sent to Lady Gaga and me made me cry,” Warren stated. “I am humbled by this brave and beautiful letter and being able to write a song that can not only speak to this cause but can hopefully help bring some healing as well.”
