Corey Clark, Former ‘American Idol’ Alum, Arrested For Domestic Violence

Corey Clark, the infamous American Idol Season 2 alum, has been arrested on both felony and misdemeanor charges following an incident last week at an Arizona courthouse, MSN is reporting.

On September 17, Clark was at the Yuma County Courthouse when he angrily confronted and arguing with a man whom Corey apparently believed was there with his (Corey’s) estranged wife, Monica Clark. It’s not clear how strongly Clark argued with the man, but it was enough for him to be charged with felony aggravated harassment, according to TMZ. It’s unclear what relationship, if any, Corey and the unidentified man have.

Monica Clark has an order of protection against Corey, which allows him to only contact her via email, through a third party, and only in relation to their children. Monica accused Corey of having violated that order in several ways, including watching her for “several hours” while she ate at a restaurant, and sending her multiple emails, which she produced for the court.

“You still fill my heart with so much joy whenever I get the chance to see you. I wish things were different with us. I wish things were better for us.”

Corey allegedly continued to argue with deputies as he was being processed, insisting that he could “[email] his wife anything he wanted.”

Corey Clark remains one of the most controversial contestants to ever compete on American Idol. Way back in Season 2, Clark made the top ten, only to be disqualified after it was discovered that he hadn’t revealed a prior arrest record, according to The Daily Mail.

In 2005, Corey claimed that while on American Idol, he’d carried on an affair with then-host Paula Abdul, a claim he would later repeat in a tell-all book, They Told Me to Tell the Truth, So…(The Sex, Lies and Paulatics of One of America’s Idols). A later investigation would find no proof that Abdul and Clark had an affair, according to an Associated Press report from the time. However, the report did find that Abdul and Clark exchanged telephone calls, although Clark’s version of the content of those calls differed significantly from Abdul’s. American Idol would later implement an “enhanced fraternization policy” between contestants and judges after the debacle.

Since American Idol, Corey Clark has tried, unsuccessfully, to put together a music carer, including releasing an unsuccessful solo album in 2005.
