‘The Flash’ Season 2: Execs Hint At ‘Big Trouble,’ Plus Was Aquaman Deleted From Season 1?

As The Flash gears up for its highly anticipated season two premiere, one storyline that is set to be expanded on is Iris West’s involvement with Barry Allen’s team of superheroes. Although Iris was largely in the dark about Barry’s secret identity in the first season, she is set to play a larger role this time around, and this might mean more danger is ahead for the character.

In fact, in an interview with MTV News, Andrew Kreisberg discussed Iris and how she will play an important part in the new season.

“I think we took some unfortunate bashing last year for keeping her in the dark, but now that she knows, she’s definitely a part of things,” Kreisberg stated in the interview. “It’s really Iris who really brings the team together in episode 201, the season premiere.”

Along with her knowing about Barry Allen and his superhero life, Iris will also play an active part in Barry’s team as her character continues to develop over the course of the season.

“We find everybody a little bit fractured from the events of the finale,” Kreisberg explained. “We see her out and about. We see her in investigative journalism, getting herself into some big trouble, but also, being what she’s always been, which is Barry’s star and the thing he’s guided by.”

Kreisberg also hinted that Iris will be forced to work out things with the West family, and that her storyline promises to be one of the more exciting ones in season two.

“Iris has an extremely strong story this year, dealing with the West family and her dad,” he added. “It’s absolutely amazing — and we’re really excited for people to see what happens to her this year.”

Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly is reporting that a major revelation is set to be unveiled when the DVD of season one for The Flash is released. While the show is known for dropping in subtle hints about future heroes and villains, mostly in the form of easter eggs, the DVD contains a deleted scene involving Aquaman.

Although it isn’t clear what this might mean for the upcoming season of the show, the deleted scene does indicate that the series might have plans for Aquaman at some point in the future. Why else would they take the time to work his character into the script?

The second season of The Flash is scheduled to return to televisions October 6 on The CW.
