“Season 6 starts with Alexandria’s safety shattered by multiple threats.”

Greg Nicotero told Entertainment Weekly there would be a time jump in the very first episode of season 6 of The Walking Dead. So this means, while Episode 1 is in the midst of “multiple threats”, it is possible these threats have absolutely nothing to do with what we saw in the season 5 finale, thanks to the time jump. However, that doesn’t mean the season 5 finale of The Walking Dead is not the catalyst that sets the wheels in motion towards the threats we will see in the 90 minute season 6 premiere episode. Because, as you will remember, the finale ended with Reg Monroe (played by Steve Coulter) dead and Deanna Monroe (Tovah Feldshuh) giving Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) the green light to kill Pete (Corey Brill). Given the tension that seems to be prevalent in the season 6 teaser video released at San Diego Comic Con this year, it is possible tensions could arise in Alexandria as a result of the events that occurred in the season 5 finale.

“To make it, the people of Alexandria will need to catch up with our survivors’ hardness while many of Rick’s people will need to take a step back from the violence and pragmatism they’ve needed to embrace. These reversals won’t happen easily, or without conflict.”

Ethan Embry stars as Carter in seaosn 6 of AMC's The Walking Dead

This is pretty straight forward — or so it seems. It is very obvious that the people within the Alexandria safe zone are sheltered greatly from the outside world. If Episode 1 opens with multiple threats then the Alexandrians will have to toughen up — and toughen up quickly — in order to survive. But, the interesting thing here is that it has taken Rick and his group five seasons of The Walking Dead to toughen up. The people of Alexandria will have to harden up quickly, and this may lead to rash decisions or, more concerning, decisions based on a world that no longer exists. In the season 6 teaser video, we see one character from Alexandria, Carter (Ethan Embry), who seems opposed to Rick Grimes. Is this because Carter is a newcomer, or because he doesn’t understand that while Rick’s attitude may be harsh, it is needed to survive in the post-apocalyptic world of The Walking Dead? Only time will tell, but it does lead us into the final piece of interesting season 6 synopsis information:

“But now Rick’s group is fighting for something more than survival… They’re fighting for their home, and they will defend that at any cost, against any threat, even if that threat comes from within.”

If the teaser video is anything to go by, internal threats like Carter won’t be the only one causing trouble. Many media outlets have reported there will be a huge number of walkers in the first episode of season 6 of The Walking Dead. Sites like i09 suggest that number could be over 600 walkers gracing the premiere episode. Although Greg Nicotero recently said in an interview with AMC that the huge amount of walkers would occur over the first three episodes.
