Frances Bean Cobain Tied The Knot…And Mom Didn’t Know

Frances Bean Cobain has gotten hitched, but it seems Courtney Love’s invitation got lost in the mail.

Reports have stated that 23-year-old Frances Bean, daughter of Nirvana front man Kurt, married longtime boyfriend Isaiah Silva, in a secret ceremony surrounded by only a handful of close friends. Silva was formerly the lead singer of the band the Rambles, but has more recently been linked to the rock band The Eeries.

Mom Courtney Love wasn’t invited, but it’s said that Frances Bean called her after the wedding to let her know that she had a new son-in-law.

Many have taken note of how much the new couple resembles Frances Bean’s parents, right down to the wedding: Courtney and Kurt were married in a small ceremony, surrounded by eight friends, in Hawaii in 1992. Kurt wore green pajamas because he was “too lazy to wear a tux.”

A source spoke to the Daily Mirror regarding the hush-hush wedding.

Frances is totally loved up with Isaiah, but she’s never been one to broadcast it to the world. She only invited a close circle of friends to the party, and then phoned her mum afterwards to tell her the good news.”

Frances Bean and Silva had been dating for five years, and the pair announced in 2011 that they were engaged. Even then, on her social media accounts, Frances Bean changed her relationship status to “engaged,” and then quickly changed it back to “in a relationship.”

Courtney Love is said to be “sad” that she wasn’t invited to see Frances Bean wed, but “she totally understands that Frances is her own person and she’s happy to let her do her own thing. Plus, Isaiah is a really nice guy.”

In 2009, Frances Bean applied for her paternal grandmother and aunt to become her legal guardians, while also requesting a restraining order on her mother due to her drug use. In fact, Love admitted to using heroin during the first trimester of her pregnancy. Love also threatened to jump off a balcony while Frances Bean was present.

Of her father’s suicide, Frances Bean tells Rolling Stone:

“Kurt got to the point where he eventually had to sacrifice every bit of who he was to his art, because the world demanded it of him. I think that was one of the main triggers as to why he felt he didn’t want to be here and everyone would be happier without him. In reality, if he had lived, I would have had a dad. And that would have been an incredible experience.”

Frances Bean also stated that she wasn’t really a fan of her father’s band.

“I don’t really like Nirvana that much. Sorry, promotional people, Universal. I’m more into Mercury Rev, Oasis, Brian Jonestown Massacre. The grunge scene is not what I’m interested in. But ‘Territorial Pissings’ [on Nevermind] is a f***ing great song. And ‘Dumb’ [on In Utero] – I cry every time I hear that song. It’s a stripped-down version of Kurt’s perception of himself – of himself on drugs, off drugs, feeling inadequate to be titled the voice of a generation.”

Frances Bean also made a rare appearance at HBO’s Emmy after-party in Los Angeles. She was dressed in all black, accessorizing with an ankh necklace and dark lipstick. This was one of a few red carpet appearances she has made, including some for the release of Montage of Heck, a Kurt Cobain documentary.

Frances Bean has been through a lot in her life, and here’s to a happy marriage with Isaiah Silva. Congratulations to the newlyweds, from us at Inquisitr.
