WWE News: WWE Warming Up To The Idea Of Bringing Back WWE Hall Of Famer Hulk Hogan

WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan found himself in a media firestorm after comments he made, in private eight years ago, came to light. He was caught on video saying things, unaware he was being filmed or documented. While one can make the case that Hogan’s comments would never be made by him in public, he still said what he said. Most fans, even African Americans, feel that Hogan’s comments were wrong, but he should not be judged for what he says in private.

In today’s world, there really is no privacy. Everyone has a camera on their phone and you can buy disposable picture cameras for next to nothing. Documenting something today is far too easy, so we all have to be careful with what we do or say because we never know who could be watching. All of this said, however, the comments Hogan made nearly a decade ago were at a tough time for him. Hogan has since apologized for what he said. All of this was only brought up because Gawker was mad about being sued by The Hulkster.

It was done simply to hurt Hulk Hogan, which is kind of terrible. However, they would have nothing to show had he had not said what he did.

WWE even let Hogan go right after they learned of the comments. They sort of had to. They answer to a Board of Directors, as well as stockholders. WWE’s value dropped $50 million that day, and it could have been more if they didn’t cut ties with Hogan when they did. However, fans have hated that WWE has attempted to erase Hogan from pro-wrestling history. This is not a Chris Benoit incident where that type of thing is understandable. Hogan didn’t kill anyone.

That is why, according to Daily Wrestling News, WWE is warming up to the idea of bringing Hulk Hogan back to the company. You may have seen recently that WWE showed Sting beating Hulk Hogan at WCW Starrcade. This was done about two weeks ago on WWE RAW, after Sting was announced for the WWE World Heavyweight Title match against Seth Rollins.

This was said to have been very intentional. WWE has attempted to not show any Hogan material since they released him. This was the first time since then that he was allowed on any WWE program.

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon reportedly knows that Hogan’s legacy is too big to ever erase. His accomplishments, as well as major moments, are cemented in the minds of most WWE fans. When you think of pro-wrestling, Hulk Hogan is the man you think of a large percentage of the time.

With the heat of what Hogan did dying down, it seemed WWE was still cold even after Hogan’s recent media tour. It is likely that WWE does not bring Hogan back any time soon, but they most likely will consider doing so very slowly. This might start with his moments going back up on the WWE Network in discussions on top of some of his material being used on WWE’s television programs, like they did with the Sting program.

The idea is that within the next few months, WWE might be warming up more and more. So time will most likely heal this wound.

There is also an internal rumor that WWE is contemplating re-adding Hogan’s merchandise to be sold in the WWE Shop.

Hulk Hogan is obviously a legend, and one that fans still love. The problem is that he said the wrong things in a time in his life that was difficult for him. We can feel bad for him in some ways for this, but at the end of the day, business is business, and WWE had to let him go when they did. The fact that they are warming up to bringing him back means that WWE feels the same way fans do.
