Is Donald Trump Heading To ‘Saturday Night Live’ For A Surprise Appearance?
Saturday Night Live is a comedic establishment that hasn’t steered away from taking on presidential elections. At times, the show has pinned their relevance on election years and have gotten their best material from presidents. One example is the Bill Clinton scandal in the 90s. Not only do they have the cast members imitate presidential hopefuls, but in some cases, presidential figures visit the show for surprise guests.
Presidential candidate Donald Trump was, at one time, a regular figure that Darrell Hammond impersonated on the show. As he gears up for the election, some are wondering if Donald Trump will appear on the show in the flesh.
According to CNN, Trump may consider a surprise guest spot on the sketch comedy show. When asked if he was thinking about appearing on Saturday Night Live this season, Mr. Trump was very coy, which is certainly a change compared to his candid nature.
“I’m not allowed to say that,” said Trump. CNN host Alisyn Camerota attempted to get more information out of Trump by asking why he’s not allowed to say whether he’s making a guest appearance on SNL. Trump replied, “Because I’m not allowed to say that. I’m just not allowed to say it. I mean, I have — uh — silencio. I can’t speak about it.”
Uh, oh. Silencio! Does this mean he’s going to make fun of his derogatory comments towards Mexicans? He just might. Right before the subject changed, Trump said, “Perhaps you understand what that means.” Very tongue in cheek, Donald.
This is coming right off the heels of Saturday Night Live announcing that cast member Taran Killam will impersonate Donald Trump for the upcoming season of SNL. Saturday Night Live cast member Kate McKinnon, who was named as the cast member to take on Democratic hopeful Hillary Clinton, called the move “amazing.”
