Madonna To Cover Lady Gaga During World Tour [Video]

Is Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” a rip-off of Madonna’s “Express Yourself?” Madonna, who has already said that the songs are a little too similar, will be performing a cover of Gaga’s “Born This Way” during her world tour.

A video of Madonna’s rehearsal was leaked online over the weekend showing the singer on stage singing Gaga’s hit. Madonna starts singing “Express Yourself” but half-way through the song she starts singing the lyrics to “Express Yourself.”

Is this a subtle dig at Lady Gaga? A cool way to energize the crowd?

In January, the singer told 20/20:

“It sounds very familiar. It feels reductive. (When I first heard it) I thought, ‘What a wonderful way to redo my song.’ I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was…interesting…. I certainly think she references me a lot in her work. And sometimes I think it’s amusing and flattering and well done. It’s a statement about taking something that was in the zeitgeist, you know, 20 years ago and turning it inside out and reinterpreting it … There’s a lot of ways to look at it. I can’t really be annoyed by it because, obviously, I’ve influenced her.”
