Morris Chestnut Says Taraji P. Henson Is One Of The Sexiest Women On TV
Taraji P. Henson continues to assert herself as the most popular person on TV right now. From her role as Cookie Lyon, the brash wife of music mogul Lucious Lyon (Terrance Howard), on the hit FOX drama Empire, to her spirited interviews, the Emmy-nominee is not only TV’s latest fashion icon, but according to actor Morris Chestnut, she’s also one of the sexiest TV actresses dominating television.
Chestnut is also on a career high, celebrating the box office success of his dramatic thriller The Perfect Guy, while capitalizing on his decadent appeal to entice viewers to tune into his new FOX show Rosewood, which debuts tonight (September 23). In addition to Taraji, Morris revealed at a screening for the series in Harlem last week, the other female television actresses he finds sexy.
“From Taraji to Kerry (Washington) to Tracee (Ellis Ross) to Viola, they all have certain things about them that are sexy to me,” he told TeamBeautiful (via the Chicago Defender). “I just love that they are really positive, they are all really smart and they’re all their own woman. So I think there’s a lot of things about all of them that are sexy.”
Rosewood is the fourth FOX series to feature Black actors in leading roles on primetime. It joins Empire, Sleepy Hallow and the network’s new sci-fi thriller Minority Report starring Meagan Good.
Morris, whose been acting for the better part of two decades, said he’s proud to be part of Hollywood’s push to cast in a way that reflects the diverse world in which we live.
“I’ve been in the game a long time,” he said. “It feels great for us to have the success that we’re having right now. People really came out and supported The Best Man: Holiday, people are supporting The Perfect Guy, so to be a part of that movement … and still be here after all this time, it’s a blessing from God. And I’m thankful to all of my fans.”
Empire is TV’s latest, greatest family dynasty that dominates Wednesday nights. The second season returns tonight (September 23) and finds formally incarcerated Cookie visiting her currently incarcerated husband Lucious in prison. Biography reports how earlier this summer at an Empire press conference, Taraji talked about the phenomenon of the sassy, scene-stealing Cookie.
“I think she is everybody’s spirit animal,” Henson said. “Or their alter ego. She lives in truth. One thing she’s not is politically correct.”
According to Taraji, viewers will get more Cookie backstory this season, and she will have two love interests!
“We’re also going to see more of her backstory,” Henson teased, “what that 17 years was like in prison. We start to delve more into flashbacks.”
Empire airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on FOX.
