Woman Charged With Stealing Fire Ambulance For Joyride

A Chicago woman has been charged with a crime we’ve all carried out (in Grand Theft Auto): stealing a fire ambulance and taking it for a joyride, merrily smashing into cars along the way.

Cassie Weathersby, 30, stole the ambulance from outside Saint Bernard Hospital in Chicago, before embarking on a one-mile trip that ended in her crashing at the 6700 block of South Indiana Avenue.

To absolutely nobody’s surprise, Weathersby was found to be intoxicated when caught. She is now being charged with stealing an ambulance, being in possession of a stolen vehicle, driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license.

Police have said the stolen ambulance was parked in an emergency room parking area. During her brief escapade, Weathersby crashed into a bunch of parked cars, notching up thousands of dollars of damage.

Her Sunday outing was cut short when she crashed into two parked cars about a mile from the ER parking area at Saint Bernard Hospital.

Weathersby, of the 1600 block of North Mango, was being held after bond was set at $25,000 Monday.
