Gwen Stefani And Blake Shelton Fuel Dating Rumors On ‘The Voice,’ But Is It All For Ratings?

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton may be igniting dating rumors on Season 9 of The Voice, but does the duo’s romance only exist to help boost ratings for the NBC series?

Stefani and Shelton first ignited dating rumors last month after reports confirmed Blake’s divorce from Miranda Lambert and Gwen’s divorce from Gavin Rossdale, leading some fans to believe there may be a hot new romance brewing between the newly single judges.

The dating rumors were further fueled by reports that suggest The Voice‘s other judges, Adam Levine and Pharrell, have been teasing Stefani and Shelton about the rumors surrounding their alleged romance.

According to a source close to Blake and Gwen, Levine has been poking fun at the duo’ s rumored romance during taping for Season 9 of the hit NBC talent series, Hollywood Life reports.

“Blake and Gwen’s relationship is definitely water cooler talk on the set of The Voice,” the source explains, adding, “Everyone wants to see them happy and it just seems like perfect timing for them to become more friends.”

The source continues, “Their two divorces are not really talked about openly, by anyone other than Adam. He loves to tease Blake and Gwen about a possible romance. He jokes that they are both single now so they should just go ahead and do it. He can’t help himself. Adam and Blake are like brothers so anytime they can give the other one a hard time they go for it.”

Similarly, fans took to Twitter to gush over Gwen and Blake’s “flirty” behavior during the season premiere of The Voice on Monday.

While neither Gwen nor Blake have spoken out in response to the rumors surrounding their alleged romance, the Chicago Tribune alleges that the duo’s romance may really be a “showmance.”

The site alleges that Blake and Gwen’s newly single status is a perfect opportunity to increase ratings for the highly anticipated new season, leading some to believe that the dating rumors may be fueled by the show’s publicists.

According to one showbiz expert, “Hollywood fauxmances work because the public wants to see beautiful, famous people together,” noting that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s romance during their days in the Twilight franchise helped to boost box office numbers for the film series.

“With all the tabloids and overexposure of celebs these days, having two huge A-listers paired together sells magazines and movies.”

While Blake Shelton is said to be happily living the single life since calling it quits from Miranda Lambert earlier this year, the country star seemingly threw shade at the ongoing rumors surrounding his alleged romance with Gwen.

“Getting ready this morning to go put in my deer plots and looked at Twitter … Damn my dating life is awesome!! Let me know what happens …”
