Kate Middleton Won’t Dress Princess Charlotte In Dresses For A Long, Long Time — Here’s Why

Kate Middleton made sure that Princess Charlotte looked adorably elegant for her christening in July by dressing her in a Victorian-inspired gown. However, there’s very little chance of the Duchess dressing her 4-month-old in another dress for quite some time.

That’s according to Rachel Riley, anyway. Riley is a children’s clothes designer Kate Middleton has frequented numerous times in the past.

Riley believes that the Duchess will resist the temptation to dress her daughter in a frock for several more months because she and Prince William are a “traditional family.” This reasoning means that Kate Middleton won’t put Princess Charlotte in a dress until she’s at least 1-year-old.

Riley explained to People magazine, “Because they’re a traditional family, I’m sure that she’ll wear babysuits for the first year, and then only when she’s walking will she then move into dresses.”

That means for the foreseeable future, Kate is likely to be placing Princess Charlotte inside onesies, as Riley also admitted that the fourth-in-line to the throne prefers being dressed in one piece clothing rather than two.

Riley added, “Even in terms of separates, I don’t think she’ll be wearing separates until much later.”

Meanwhile, Riley spoke glowingly about the Royal family’s choice of clothing for their children, predicting that 4-month-old Princess Charlotte will probably soon be a huge trendsetter just like her older brother, 2-year-old Prince George.

“They are absolutely trendsetters,” Riley said when speaking about the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as well as their royal offspring. “When you look at them, they’re just gorgeous, their clothing is gorgeous. The royals stay relevant and modern.”

Rachel Riley is one of the most revered children’s designers in the world. Her eponymous company was launched in 1994, and they now have stores open in Knightsbridge, London, and on Madison Avenue, New York.

Kate Middleton returned to her royal engagements last week by first attending the Anna Freud Centre to learn how they assist children suffering from mental health issues.

Meanwhile, she also made an appearance at the opening ceremony of the Rugby World Cup, where Prince Harry gave a speech to start the competition.
