‘Empire’ Spoilers: Season 2 Premiere Brings Fierce Family Battle Over Empire Entertainment
Empire spoilers for the Season 2 premiere airing Wednesday night on Fox tease that viewers have quite the wild ride ahead of them. Everybody was left hanging with a fantastic Season 1 finale last spring, and things kick back into gear again on September 23. What can viewers expect?
The Season 2 premiere is titled “The Devils are Here,” and TV Guide teases Empire spoilers that the action picks up three months after Lucious Lyon’s arrest. The Empire Entertainment powerhouse is sitting behind bars, but he’s still trying to keep the business going.
Lucious may be in significant trouble with this case, as it seems the prosecutor involved is relying on Lucious’ misfortunate to make a name for herself. As for Cookie, she’s taking full advantage of her current position. Empire spoilers detail that she’ll put together a big concert to honor Lucious, though she’s got plenty of ulterior motives.
Cookie is working with Anika, Hakeem, Andre, and Mimi Whiteman, played by Marisa Tomei, to take over Empire Entertainment, and this one could get ugly. This Season 2 debut is jam-packed with guest stars, as TVLine teases that Swiss Beatz, Ludacris, Kelly Rowland, Chris Rock, Al Sharpton, and Don Lemon will all pop up in Wednesday’s premiere before the night is over.
Showrunner Ilene Chaiken teases Empire spoilers via TV Guide that this season is all about “warring kingdoms.” The Season 1 finale drew huge ratings, but can they keep the momentum going into Season 2? Those with the show are feeling the pressure, they admit, but they seem confident viewers will love this season.
Kelly Rowland plays Lucious’ mother, and Empire spoilers tease that flashbacks with this character will give viewers insight into Lucious and why he’s so hard on Andre. Rhonda and Andre will be struggling in the wake of the murder cover-up and the pregnancy news while Jamal will be struggling with all of the responsibility he’s carrying in running the company.
Hakeem may have made some impulsive decisions in the past, but in Season 2, he’ll mature a bit and even put together a girl group to produce. He’ll also look to repair his relationship with Cookie a bit. Empire spoilers tease that viewers will see big shifts in both Hakeem and Jamal this season as their roles in the family and company have shifted.
As for Lucious, he’ll be in jail for the first part of the season, but Empire spoilers indicate he’ll get out soon. Viewers will see a different Lucious in the episodes to come, but it seems he’ll be tougher than ever. Tiana and Anika are still in the mix of things too, and it sounds as if the battle for power will be more brutal than ever before.
Can Season 2 of Empire generate the same kind of buzz it garnered in Season 1? Fans are definitely anxious to get started with a fresh round of drama from Lucious, Cookie, Hakeem, Jamal, and the others, and everything kicks into gear with the Wednesday night premiere on Fox.
