Naked Jogging Couple Leaves Baby Alone On Beach In Louisiana For Two Hours

A baby was found alone on a Louisiana beach on Tuesday morning. The police were called, and Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Deputies located the parents of the 20-month-old infant girl after a 2-hour search. Cody and Monique Bourgeois were ultimately found jogging naked down the beach.

The baby was found alone on the beach at 10:16 a.m. She was about two miles from a Ford Explorer, which was running, Tucson News reports. Both Monique and Cody Bourgeois were arrested and charged with child desertion and obscenity. The Cameron Parish Sheriff said drug abuse may have been a factor in the baby-abandoned-on-Holly-Beach case, the New York Daily News reports.

“Not only did they abandon their child, we never got the first call from them about them missing their child,” Sheriff Ron Johnson told local reporters.

The Louisiana law enforcement official said is was likely that the baby girl had been left entirely alone on the beach for at least two hours. Children’s services has been called in to investigate the incident. The infant was turned over to her paternal grandmother. Neither the condition nor the name of the baby girl were noted in breaking news reports about the incident. The baby is now reportedly believed to be in good health and did not sustain any injuries while abandoned on the beach.

According to a Fox 10 report and the comments by alleged locals posted beneath the article, alligators are known to frequent Holly Beach.

“And in Holly Beach, LA? The last time I was there, alligators were walking on the roadside in mid-day and the roadkill gators were everywhere on LA27 headed into town,” Teddy Seibert Busby posted.

Holly Beach is part of the Lake Charles metropolitan area and has a population of about 194,138 people. In September, 2005, Hurricane Rita completely leveled the small beach town. Almost nothing was left but ruins and the water tower, according to Wikipedia. Holly Beach was also devastated by a Hurricane Audrey in 1957. Current residents of the Holly Beach area must reportedly sign a waiver to live there — the area does not have a functioning sewer system.
