‘Dancing With The Stars’ Bindi Irwin Gushes About Partner, Pays Tribute To Dad [Video]

Dancing with the Stars cast member Bindi Irwin not only showed off her serious dancing moves this season so far, but she also paid tribute to her late father, Steve Irwin. During Tuesday’s episode of Dancing with the Stars, Bindi and partner Derek Hough scored 23 out of 30, wowing the judges with their waltz but losing points because of a lift.

People Magazine reports that during the September 22 episode, Irwin revealed that some of the dance moves she had to learn were not easy.

The 17-year-old confessed, “[M]y brain is bugging me today,” explaining she was having a hard time concentrating.

“If you could paint a picture right now – a picture of Bindi’s brain, it would be a beautiful daisy meadow, and there would be a fine mist over the meadow,” the Dancing with the Stars beauty said to Derek Hough in her pre-dance package.

The metaphor was so striking that co-host Tom Bergeron later teased her about it, according to People.

Bindi Irwin got it together, however, and the crowd loved the expertly-choreographed waltz the pair performed to “Only a Man” by Jonny Lang.

In another Dancing with the Stars clip, Irwin confessed that despite difficulty concentrating, she wanted to make her Dancing with the Stars partner proud. She told producers that Derek “feels like an older brother,” gushing that “this is all about that teamwork. Not only do I have a friend, he feels like an older brother and we’re working together.”

When asked how she handles the pressure of dancing on live television, Irwin commented, “It’s because of the love and support of my family and from Derek for being the most amazing teammate.”

“He’s done so much in this life,” Bindi told People about her Dancing with the Stars partner. “He’s lived so many lifetimes in this one life, and it was a really beautiful dance and it was a privilege to be a part of it this evening. It’s been amazing.”

Bindi Irwin also took the opportunity to pay tribute to her late father during Monday’s episode of Dancing with the Stars, choreographing a dance to AC/DC’s “You Shook Me,” which was one of her father’s favorite songs. The performance earned Irwin and Hough an amazing 23 out of 25 during the Hometown Glory-themed episode, reports Entertainment Weekly.

“I remember when I was really little dancing to that song with dad,” Bindi told Dancing with the Stars fans during a clip. “And it means everything to me.”
