‘The Walking Dead’: A New Casting Call Suggests Negan Could Arrive In Season 6

Comic books fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead have been awaiting news on the next potential “big bad,” Negan. It seems we might have some news on that front courtesy of a casting call.

WARNING: This article contains speculation about season 6 of AMC’s The Walking Dead that could lead to spoilers. It also contains spoilers for the comic book version of The Walking Dead. Please proceed with caution.

The Walking Dead fan site, The Spoiling Dead, posted the following casting call to their Facebook page recently:

“[ORIN] 30s to mid 40s. A physically imposing, charismatic, brutal, smart, ferocious, frightening, hilarious, inappropriate, oddly friendly, fun loving sociopath that is both a leader of men and a killer of men. He has both a practical and emotional intelligence, he’s a brilliant strategist, he’s pure, dangerous, murderous, often gleeful id, that still has both discipline and a code. And he has a temper that can vaporize people. He’s truly one of the strongest personalities ever…”

Now, everyone knows that AMC puts out fake names with their casting calls to prevent storyline spoilers from the comic book series The Walking Dead is based on, so you can ignore the name Orin. However, Cinema Blend, along with everyone else, is convinced this casting call is for Negan.

As yet, it has not been confirmed by AMC, but if you haven’t read the Walking Dead comics and don’t know who Negan is, here’s a brief rundown courtesy of The Walking Dead Wikia page.

“Negan (pronounced KNEE-gan)[2] is a main character first introduced in Issue 100 of Image Comics’ The Walking Dead and is the former leader of the Saviors and is a primary antagonist in the comic series. He uses his authority and resources to subjugate other communities, such as the Hilltop Colony, The Kingdom, and later the Alexandria Safe-Zone, into paying tribute to The Saviors, in exchange for protection against zombies.”

Of course, those who know the comics well know that if Negan arrives in AMC’s The Walking Dead, he will bring a barbed wired bat he likes to call Lucille. And if that is the case, then the potential for Glenn Rhee (played by Steven Yeun) to lose his life in Season 6 of The Walking Dead suddenly seems more likely.

A final thing to note about the casting call is that it is for Episode 16 of Season 6, thus placing Negan’s appearance right where many comic book fans were predicting.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC with Season 6 on Sunday, October 11, 2015.
