‘Star Wars Battlefront’: EA Isn’t Ruling Out The Possibility Of Mouse And Keyboard Support On Xbox One, PS4

The development team behind the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront reboot is still busy adding new content to the game despite the fact that the title is scheduled to release in two months. While EA and DICE have regularly shared details with fans on what to expect from the Star Wars Battlefront, the studio might also be holding on to a few surprises.

As the launch date draws closer, Electronic Arts has begun answering a growing number of community questions through their official social channels. However, there are still certain topics that the publishing giant still isn’t ready to discuss since Star Wars Battlefront is still in development.

While tackling a new series of fan-driven inquiries this week, the official Twitter account for Star Wars Battlefront might have possibly hinted at the developer’s desire to possibly give console gamers the option of playing Star Wars Battlefront with a mouse and keyboard rather than their system’s respective controller.

After getting asked if the console editions of Star Wars Battlefront would feature mouse and keyboard support, EA stated that they couldn’t talk about unconfirmed features. However, the publisher also didn’t outright deny that the alternate control scheme would be available either.

As of now, no one but DICE and EA know if there will be mouse and keyboard support for Star Wars Battlefront on consoles. However, the possibility of providing gamers with the choice between playing Star Wars Battlefront with a controller gamepad or mouse and keyboard does fit in with the developer’s desire to allow users to play the game however they want.

Gamers familiar with DICE’s work on previous shooters, such as the popular Battlefield franchise, likely won’t be surprised when they see Star Wars Battlefront‘s first-person gameplay in action. However, in order to give fans greater control over their experience in Star Wars Battlefront, the game can also be played with an over-the-shoulder third person perspective.

DICE isn’t generally known for using a third person camera, but the developer made sure to include the option for fans of classic Battlefront games, which all exclusively featured third person gameplay. DICE’s commitment to catering to different preferences to camera choice helps make it more believable that the team might also take the same attitude towards the control setup of Star Wars Battlefront.

While DICE seems to be focused on giving gamers the ability to freely change gameplay options, the developer doesn’t seem to be as equally concerned with allowing users to choose how many people they want to play with. The Inquisitr previously reported that DICE views Star Wars Battlefront as a multiplayer title first. Not only will the game not feature a single-player campaign, but players won’t even be able to earn experience for engaging in the title’s co-op missions.

Would you play Star Wars Battlefront with a mouse and keyboard on consoles if it includes the option?
