‘Tonight Show’ Guest Carly Fiorina Talks Religion, Trump, And Dogs?

Carly Fiorina was the Tonight Show guest of honor Monday night, and she opened up about her Republican presidential candidacy as well as a number of other interesting facts. It was an opportunity to not only get to know Fiorina as a candidate, but also as an individual, since she joined in on Jimmy Fallon’s musical lyric game alongside discussions of foreign policy.

It’s true that Fiorina is a fighter, particularly when she’s paired against Donald Trump. However, with her Tonight Show appearance, she showed off her warmer side. She began by sharing that she and her mother used to sing together, and now she uses that talent to sing songs to her dogs. With just a little bit of coaxing, Jimmy was able to convince her to sing just one verse of a song she sings to her dog Snickers. Here’s the words to the song.

“My name’s Snick, and I’m lazy. Please don’t take a walk with me. I’d rather stay right here at home instead. I want to lie back down in my nice, warm bed. My name’s Snick and you’re gonna have to carry me.”

The audience clapped to the beat and cheered as Jimmy Fallon laughed and danced along.

But this wasn’t all Fiorina had in store for us as Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show guest. She also discussed several important things to her candidacy, religion at the forefront. The idea of having a Muslim president has been hotly contested ever since both Trump and Carson stated that they wouldn’t support a Muslim president.

Fallon asked Carly what she thought about having a Muslim president. She said she was fine with that, and here’s why.

“I actually believe that people of faith make better leaders. Whether they are Christians, as I am — my faith has sustained me through some very bad times. I’ve battled cancer, I’ve lost a child, I’ve been tested. But whether it’s a person of Christian faith or Jewish faith or Muslim faith or other faiths, I think faith gives us humility, and empathy and optimism. And I think those are important things.”

She also talked about her opinions on Russian president Vladimir Putin. She called him a “confident” and “formidable adversary.”

She also stated, “He can be quite funny and charming, but he’s a KGB guy, you know, we should never forget this.”

After making this statement, she pointed out that Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin were a lot alike. When pressed further about how Trump plans to meet with Putin, she made a cautionary statement.

“I wouldn’t talk to him at all. I think Donald Trump is wrong. I think we’ve talked way too much to Vladimir Putin.”

She also wanted to share a message with America. She began by addressing the fact that the polls have continued to rise in her favor as people begin to recognize her.

“When people get to know me, they tend to support me,” she said to Jimmy. “That’s what you see in the polls.”

Fallon also asked her if she wanted America to know something about her campaign. She responded with her story of how she grew from a secretary for a tiny business to the CEO of Hewlett-Packard, the largest technology company in the world.

“When I was a little girl, my mother said to me, ‘What you are is God’s gift to you, what you make of yourself is your gift to God,’ and I’ve learned in my life that everyone has God-given gifts…It’s only in this country that you can go from being a secretary to the chief executive of the largest technology company in the world, and run for president of the United States. It’s only possible here. And I want to make sure that every American, regardless of who they are, what they look like, how they start, or what their circumstance has the opportunity to fulfill their potential and find and use their God-given gifts, and that isn’t true in America today.”

Carly Fiorina, the elected winner of the last Republican debate, continues to make waves with her strong opinions and her search for equality. This Tonight Show guest shared a little bit of herself with America on Monday night, and it’s likely to only help her image as people get to know her more.
