Megyn Kelly Interviewing Kim Davis After Big Duggar Family Score

Megyn Kelly’s sympathetic interview with four members of the embattled Duggar family has seemingly bolstered The Kelly File host’s street cred with the anti-gay, conservative Christian crowd. According to recent reports, Megyn Kelly has scored one of the first sit-down interviews with Kim Davis, the Rowan County Clerk who was thrown in jail after refusing to issue marriage licenses to LGBT couples.

Unfortunately for Megyn Kelly, she didn’t land the very first interview with Kim Davis. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Davis will talk to Good Morning America anchor Paula Faris during the September 22 episode of the ABC morning show. The following night, Kim Davis will appear on The Kelly File, Megyn Kelly’s Fox News Channel show.

Megyn Kelly’s first order of business is to ask Davis about the recent allegations that she disobeyed a federal judge’s order by altering same-sex couples’ marriage licenses. The Kentucky clerk spent five days in jail earlier this month after a federal judge ruled that she was in contempt of court for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples and forbidding her deputy clerks from doing so in her stead. Davis cited her religious beliefs as her reason for denying same-sex couples the right to get married.

After being released from jail, Kim Davis was ordered not to interfere whenever her deputy clerks issued licenses to same-sex couples. However, according to the American Civil Liberties Union, Davis found a way to meddle with the marriage licenses that she finds so offensive — she replaced the original marriage license form with one of her own creation that omits her name and any references to Rowan County. NBC News reports that the ACLU has filed a motion that points out that Kim Davis’ alterations may make the new marriage licenses invalid.

There’s no word on whether Megyn Kelly’s interview with Kim Davis will go beyond her latest drama with the marriage license forms. According to an ABC News preview of Davis’ GMA interview, she spent part of her time complaining about being called a hypocrite and homophobe.

“Those names don’t hurt me,” Davis said. “What probably hurt me the worst is when someone tells me that my God does not love me or that my God is not happy with me, that I am a hypocrite of a Christian.”

Maybe Megyn Kelly will ask Davis to explain why she’s okay with divorce and against same-sex marriage. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Davis has been divorced three times and married four times. Many see her as a hypocrite because she hasn’t exactly shown much respect for the “sanctity of marriage.”

Megyn Kelly didn’t ask members of the Duggar family any really tough questions when she interviewed them back in June. The interviews were a huge score for the Fox News Channel — they were the only sit-downs the extremely religious family granted after Josh Duggar confessed to molesting four of his younger sisters. Megyn was even presented with the opportunity to interview two of Josh’s victims, Jessa and Jill Duggar. However, according to the Wrap, many viewers thought she blew her big score, and they took to social media to complain that Kelly lobbed softball questions at the Duggars and allowed them to get away with defending sexual abuse. Kelly didn’t do much probing or ask many follow-up questions during the interviews.

However, the interviews with Jim Bob, Michelle, Jessa, and Jill Duggar helped transform Megyn Kelly into the Fox News Channel’s brightest star. She went on to moderate Fox News’ first GOP debate, and the Los Angeles Times reports that she’s been asked to return for the second one in January.

Kelly is also becoming the network’s go-to girl when it comes to interviewing the biggest headline makers. According to Variety, Fox News Channel chairman Roger Ailes has gifted Kelly with her own series of primetime specials that are set to start airing sometime next year. The Kelly File host will reportedly conduct hour-long interviews with “newsmakers in politics, sports and Hollywood.” Kelly told Variety that her wishlist of interviewees includes Hillary Clinton, Caitlyn Jenner, and Kim Kardashian.

Megyn Kelly’s interview with Kim Davis will air during The Kelly File on September 23 at 9 p.m. ET.
