Shawn Mendes Dating Camila Cabello: Sorry, Niall Horan!
Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello are dating! They’re a pop music power couple that just might become the next Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, and they make an almost unbearably adorable pair. However, their coupling is bad news for one of the Biebs’ buddies — it really looked like Niall Horan had a thing for Camila.
According to E! News, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello recently started dating after being friends for quite a while. They reportedly became close while Mendes and Fifth Harmony (Camila’s girl group) were touring with Austin Mahone. Austin and Camila used to date, but she’s not apologizing for making things awkward between two male singers who are already competing for the same female teen fan base. Instead, Camila is joking about the situation. During her E! News interview, Cabello quipped that Shawn Mendes is jealous of her past relationship with Austin Mahone.
“While we were on tour Austin and I were dating and Shawn was just kind of being a loner… Yeah he was so jealous and he couldn’t come out on stage because he was just seething rage and crying blood.”
When E! News pointed out that the “Stitches” singer and the Fifth Harmony star make a cute couple, Shawn Mendes joked that he could never date Camila Cabello because “Spanish and Canadian don’t really mix.” However, clashing cultures didn’t stop the Spanadian couple from cuddling up together when they couldn’t get their caffeine fix at the iHeart Radio Festival Music Festival in Las Vegas.

Shawn and Camila certainly seem to share a love of being silly, so it’s not surprising that they’ve finally taken their friendship to the next level. They haven’t publicly admitted that they’re dating, but Sugarscape shared video evidence that Shawn Mendes couldn’t keep his hands off Camila on the red carpet at the iHeart Radio Music Festival. In the video below, he nearly scares the sheer pants off of his ladylove before sweetly slipping his arm around her waist.
Things are certainly looking up for Shawn. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Justin Bieber finally knows who he is, and now he has a hot pop star girlfriend. However, Shawn and Camila’s relationship might sadden one of Justin’s famous friends. One Direction singer Niall Horan recently got pretty flirty with Camila on Twitter, and he had a blast watching the brunette beauty squeal and scream while trying to stay on a Segway. It’s possible that Niall had feelings for his fellow former X Factor star, but he should have acted faster if he wanted something serious with Camila. At least Shawn Mendes can take comfort in knowing that Niall Horan definitely knows who he is if he didn’t before now.
Speaking of the Justin Bieber incident, Shawn Mendes recently spoke with MTV News about Justin’s comments that many mistook for a diss. Justin Bieber claimed that he had never heard of Shawn Mendes, and some people found it hard to believe that the Biebs was unaware of the emergence of another talented Canadian singer who is extremely popular with teen girls. However, Shawn Mendes thinks everyone blew the whole incident out of proportion. After learning of Shawn’s existence, Justin Bieber listened to “Stitches” and gave Shawn a shoutout on Twitter. Now Shawn is grateful for the free publicity he’s getting from a positive Biebs review.
“It was really cool, really sweet of him. I was really happy. Obviously, people took that the wrong way, so it was really nice of him to do that.”
