Casey Anthony Dead? Hoax ‘Now 8 News’ Site Claims Anthony Was Killed In Ohio, Goes Viral

The most recent news reports about Casey Anthony, as reported by ABC News, informed the public about a defamation lawsuit against Anthony being thrown out. That’s why it was pretty shocking to Anthony followers when a purported news headline about Casey Anthony went viral on Monday, September 21, claiming the 29-year-old had been found dead. Shared hundreds of times on Facebook, news about Anthony’s alleged death brought a variety of responses to the social networking site.

According to “Who Is” information about the only site where the article about Casey’s alleged bludgeoning death occurred, the domain name was recently purchased on July 9, via GoDaddy, which is not usually the hallmark of a valid, long-lived news site. Yet, some folks are believing the report claiming that Anthony has been killed and has been found dead by a person who happened upon Casey’s dead body.

“Unconfirmed reports coming out of Warren, Ohio state that the body of Casey Anthony was found in a rest stop near I-71, bludgeoned to death. At 1:37 PM on Monday, a traveler noticed a body in the back of a pickup truck abandoned in a grassy field about 20 yards from the parking area as he was walking his dog.”

Expect Snopes and Gossip Cop to call foul on this story about Casey’s alleged death soon. The manner of death claimed in the article is the type of so-called “poetic justice” that fake stories often include. That’s because Anthony went to trial to determine if Casey Anthony was responsible for the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony. Anthony was portrayed as a young mom who wanted to party instead of raising her young daughter. Prosecutors accused Anthony of drowning her daughter in a swimming pool. During the trial, Anthony was shown in photos from a “hot body” contest and other photos that positioned Casey Anthony as a murderer, although a jury acquitted Anthony of murder in 2011, as reported by WKGM Orlando.

As far as Anthony being dead, it’s unlikely that news of Casey Anthony’s death would come via such a site. That hasn’t stopped folks from reacting to the seemingly viral hoax. Those leaving comments on Facebook about Anthony supposedly being dead don’t seem to recognize it as such. Commentators are writing about karma under the allegedly false story claiming Anthony is dead. Others are writing that Casey got what she deserved, while opposing commentators are writing that despite it all, they don’t wish death on anyone.
