Patti LaBelle kicked a fan off the stage who attempted to remove his clothes. When Patti noticed that her invitation to the audience at a concert had resulted in a man starting to disrobe, LaBelle immediately chided him, reported People.
The incident occurred when Patti was rocking her Vancouver concert, which took place at the Hard Rock Casino. LaBelle chose “Lady Marmalade” to make the stage available for her fans who wanted to join her on the stage. But when Patti saw one person start to take off his shirt, she promptly responded.
“Don’t you dare, not on my stage. I am 71-years-young I am not Nicki Minaj or that little, uh, Miley.”
When LaBelle noticed that the man then started to flaunt his body, she became outraged and ordered that the man be taken out of the concert facility.
“Get off of my goddarn stage, b****,” screamed Patti. “And stay off. Put him out of the building. Put him out! How dare you!”
LaBelle subsequently expressed her remorse for swearing, and chalked it up to her astrological sign.
“I’m so sorry. I’m a Gemini and things come out of my mouth sometimes that I try to control,” admitted Patti.
LaBelle didn’t change her views on that fan, however.
“Don’t ever come in my face again,” declared the singer.
And in general, Patti feels that more clothes can make the world a better place.
LaBelle expressed her dismay at young singers who wear minimal attire, reported the New York Post.
Patti felt it was time to express her views on youthful pop singers who have taken the stance that less is more when it comes to clothing.
“You know, I watched the VMAs and I was totally turned off with what I saw,” exclaimed LaBelle. “I need these young girls to put some clothes on!”
That scolding for the pop stars immediately resulted in questions about just which VMA virtuoso she was scolding. However, Patti discreetly refrained from specific references.
Was LaBelle discussing Miley Cyrus or Nicki Minaj following her references to both singers after she kicked that fan off the stage at her concert for taking off his clothes? That’s not known. However, Patti did take time to provide young singers with specific fashion recommendations.
“I would tell them to cover up and stop showing your breasts and butts — you do not need to be naked to sell records,” said Patti.
However, LaBelle admitted that she wasn’t sure if they would pay attention to her because of her age.
“I don’t know if they would listen to an older woman. I am 72 years young, but I will continue to pray for them as well as myself,” promised the singer.
