Alan Tysheen Lassiter: This North Carolina Father Threw His Own Children In A Lake And Then Called 911

A man from Raleigh, North Carolina, is in police custody after he threw his three children in a Durham lake on Sunday night and later called 911. The man, identified as Alan Tysheen Lassiter, is a 29-year-old resident of Holloway Terrace, Raleigh, WRAL News reports.

The incident happened at around 8:45 p.m., local time on Sunday, when shortly after throwing his three children, Alan called up 911. Officers were quick to respond and reached the spot by 9 p.m. An off duty Durham County Sheriff’s deputy was able to pull two children — a 3-year-old girl and her older 5-year-old sister out of the water. A 7-year-old boy was also thrown in the lake but he was able to get away and run for help, officials confirmed.

After the two girls were pulled out of the lake, emergency responders administered CPR on them till an EMS ambulance arrived and took them both to a local hospital. The 3-year-old girl is listed in critical condition at the time of publishing this article, while the 5-year-old is stable and is on the way to recovery. The elder 7-year-old boy is in the custody of his relatives now, ABC 11 News reports.

Hours after the incident, officials towed away a white SUV from the scene of the incident. The vehicle is believed to be the one used by Alan to bring the children near the lake. Officials from Durham police held a press conference at around 11:15 a.m. on Monday, in which they revealed more information regarding the incident.

Police Chief Jose Lopez said the following in a statement.

“It’s very stressful for responders. Whether you have children or not you’re impacted by young lives placed in such a horrendous situation. We really feel for them.”

At this time, it is unclear as to what prompted Alan to take the drastic step of attempting to kill his own children. Meanwhile, police officials have asked people with any information regarding this incident to call Investigator E. Ortiz at 919-560-4440, ext. 29337, or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.

This is not the first time that we have heard of a father attempting to kill his own children. Earlier this year, the Inquisitr reported about the case of 25-year-old John Jonchuck Jr., who was arrested after throwing his own 5-year-old daughter off a bridge. That 5-year-old was, however, not as lucky, as she died in the incident.
