One Direction May Perform One Last Time With Bruno Mars At Super Bowl 50

Fans of One Direction already know about their extended hiatus starting March, 2016. However, some have been wondering why the band chose March. Could it be because the super successful boy band may be performing one last huge show?

As reported by the Daily Mirror, One Direction announced earlier today that they are in talks to perform during the 2016 Super Bowl half-time show in February. If it happens, the performance is thought to be their “farewell” show before their well-needed break.

According to an unnamed insider, adding One Direction to the half-time lineup may be just what the NFL is looking for.

“NFL bosses want a superstar line-up and 1D are very much in the mix. They want a pop and rock mash-up and it is thought that Coldplay and Bruno Mars are in talks too.”

The 2016 halftime show will be the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Super Bowl. The source went on to say how important it is that this show be successful.

“NFL bigwigs want a one-off show that will be remembered and garner the greatest audience figures ever. Obviously the 12-minute half-time show will be worth millions in revenue, sales and downloads too. With the band finishing it would be the ultimate way for the group to say farewell to their fans.”

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, it has been confirmed that Bruno Mars has been talking with NFL show organizers about a possible performance at Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, California.

Should One Direction perform, they will be included in the list of other big names like Katy Perry, Madonna, Janet Jackson, and the Black Eyed Peas that have graced the halftime show stage in the past.

Some fans are worried that 1D’s hiatus means the end for the band. In a Yahoo! Entertainment article, Liam Payne offered some reassurance that the band will be returning at some point in the future.

“I realize now this is the time to start branching out and exploring. This won’t last forever, and there will be a point when we will break off and do our own things, but… we will work together again.”

Some may not remember, but this has the same feel as when *NSYNC decided to take a break, yet never reunited. Millions of One Direction fans are hoping that this hiatus will not turn out the same.

In addition to the possible halftime show appearance, One Direction is leaving one other memento to their fans before their potential break up. The group is expected to release a new album before the end of 2015.

Millions of hearts were broken the day One Direction announced their extended break. Now, with the possibility of the biggest show of their career, fans will get to see them one last time before they head out in different directions.
