Julia Roberts: On Not Going Into Showbiz If Given A Redo, Her Smile, And Leading-Men Pals

Always-radiant Julia Roberts was recently candid, as usual, in an interview with Allure Magazine. The Pretty Woman actress shared about her interactions with the media over the years, and confessed her admiration for costars such as Jennifer Aniston. The 47-year-old star responded to comments about her radiant and charming smile, reminding interviewers that self-analyzing is a bit pointless and noted what a wonderful thing it is to be truly joyful.

“I don’t think it’s healthy or productive to self-analyze. The way a person smiles is the way they smile. It sort of becomes this thing: ‘Let’s see that smile!’ I can smile or I can not smile, but I can’t perform. I am a genuinely and deeply happy person, which, as life goes on, you realize what great fortune that is, to feel like you just have the natural chemistry of joy.”

Roberts, who clearly has played some of the most memorable and powerful characters as one of Hollywood’s most talented leading ladies, knows a thing or two about the world of showbiz now and, in an earlier interview with the publication, noted that if given the opportunity once again at the age of 18, as so happened in her case, that she wouldn’t be interested in getting involved in acting. When posed the question in regards to whether or not the star would take the opportunity again, Julia responded truthfully yet with a surprising reply.

“No, I don’t think I could. Maybe it’s because I’m not 18—I don’t have the same kind of energy—but it just looks exhausting.”

In addition to sharing that she would not be interested in revisiting the world of showbiz if given the option again, Roberts did communicate what it is she would love to be famous for in place of her silver screen stardom.

“I would be a great writer or painter. It’s the creating something out of nothing that I find astounding. The Year of Magical Thinking [by Joan Didion], I read that not that long ago… I would put it down and just lie there in bed. My husband was like, ‘Are you OK?’ “

As for Roberts’ intentions for educating and influencing her own children, the brunette beauty spoke with conviction, also noting how much her own intentions come from the influence her own mother had on her life.

“My mom worked really hard outside of the home, and she worked really hard inside of the home. She was a phenomenal cook, made everything from scratch. Our house was always tidy; our clothes were always clean. I take a great joy in homemaking.”

Roberts remains one of the strongest actresses in Hollywood and manages to maintain her appeal while being grounded and a constant fantastic role model for young women. In addition, as Vanity Fair shares, the stunner manages to keep some of Hollywood’s strongest leading men as her besties. She seems to have found a wonderful balance, regardless of her life as a showbiz queen.
