Earlier this month, Korean actress, singer, model, and fashion designer Yoon Eun Hye – famous for her role in K-drama Coffee Prince – got herself in a bit of trouble. While participating on the latest season of Chinese fashion reality show The Goddess’ New Outfit (also known as Fashion Goddess), Eun Hye was accused of plagiarizing Korean designer Yoon Choon Ho with the dress she created to win the show’s contest in its initial episode. The particular detail that caused such allegations was the frilly sleeves. When the dresses are given a side-by-side comparison, it looks as if Eun Hye may have indeed plagiarized from Choon Ho.
Apparently, Yoon Eun Hye is aware of the problems the scandal has caused as proven when she made her return to Korea. Upon arrival, Eun Hye avoided any discussion pertaining to said accusations of plagiarism, going as far as running away from reporters.
As detailed by Korean entertainment news outlet Dispatch, Yoon Eun Hye avoided members of the press and online media while at Gimpo Airport, as reported by KdramaStars. Not only that, it is also known that Eun Hye covered her face and literally ran from reporters, as reported by AllKpop.
Eventually, Jarmy Entertainment, the agency in which Eun Hye is contracted to, released a statement for Asia E to publish. They responded to Eun Hye’s quick trip through the airport. They also made it known Eun Hye is aware of her plagiarism controversy.
From what Jarmy Entertainment claims, Yoon Eun Hye does have a stance pertaining to the controversy, but have no current or additional plans to announce said stance. The only tidbit Eun Hye has provided pertaining to the said stance is through a simple statement on social media.
“Do not use the name Yoon Eun Hye to promote your brand.”
Unfortunately, domestic audiences are not buying it. Claims against Yoon Eun Hye have been bolstered when they compared other designs displayed on The Goddess’ New Outfit to those in fashion lines by Dolce & Gabanna and Bon Chic, Bon Genre (BCBG).
For now, Eun Hye is still scheduled to compete on The Goddess’ New Outfit, a show similar to Project Runway. The schedule or additional tapings for it however are being reported as “hard to reveal.”
