Spice Girls Reunion: What We Really, Really Want, But One Spice Will Be Missing

Spice Girls reunion? Has it really been 20 years since their debut single hit the stores? Well, nearly. Next year will mark the special anniversary for the group we fondly know as the Spice Girls, featuring Ginger, Scary, Baby, Sporty, and Posh Spice. Rumors are spreading that the group is planning a 20-year reunion tour to mark the occasion. Perhaps they are more than mere rumors?

People interviewed Mel B. (Scary Spice) at the Essence Street Style Awards on Sunday and asked her the million-dollar question. Mel was very positive about it and sounds eager to get the Spice Girls reunion in motion.

“I am hoping so! It’s our 20th anniversary next year, so – once we decide, and get things going – then I’ll be the first one yelling it from the rooftops!”

A couple of the Spice Girls have taken to Twitter to hint about a possible Spice Girls reunion. Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) gave what could be considered a teaser tweet.

“Do I need to put my pigtails in?!?!?”

Melanie C. (Sporty Spice) also tweeted about the possibility of a Spice Girls reunion.

“Woke up this morning wondering whether I need to start practising my backflips???!!!”

The tweets of Melanie C. and Emma Bunton could be viewed as conveying surprise or they could simply just be having fun with the idea of a reunion and toying with their fans. However, there is one Spice Girl that is not onboard with the idea of a Spice Girls reunion tour. Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) has said she does not want to be involved, but she has given the remaining Spice Girls her blessing to reunite without her.

What about Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice)? The Huffington Post has reported that Halliwell has teased about a possible Spice Girls reunion, but remained non-committal.

“Let’s see what happens.”

However, she also spoke with Mirror and indicated the idea has definitely been discussed.

“It’s one of those things that have been discussed. I think it’s nice to celebrate it in some way.”

At this point, nothing official has been announced that would indicate a Spice Girls reunion is in the works for a 20th anniversary tour. The last time the Spice Girls performed together was at the Olympics Closing Ceremony in 2012. It’s clear that Mel B. is the most outspoken supporter of the plan, but only time will tell whether this plan comes to fruition.
