Uma Thurman Settles Custody Battle With Billionaire French Financier

Uma Thurman and her ex-fiancé Arpad Busson settled a bitter custody battle this week in NYC, and she appeared to be in high spirits leaving the courthouse, even blowing kisses to reporters, Page Six reports. Busson was also spotted exiting the hearing with a smile, giving reporters two thumbs up. He sued Thurman in 2014 in order to spend more time with their daughter Luna, 3. However, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Matthew Cooper praised the former lovers on Thursday for working through their differences and developing a co-parenting plan.

“Everybody compromised a bit,” Justice Cooper said. “I think it was all done to make one person happy and that one person is Luna.”

While details of their settlement remain confidential, the two signed a 3-year contract on how to co-parent their daughter, according to E! News.

The statuesque actress and model and the London-based French financier started dating in 2004, after meeting at a dinner in Milan, two years after she and actor Ethan Hawke divorced.

Uma and Busson called it quits in 2007, but reunited and became engaged in June 2008. The on-again-off-again couple split briefly in 2009, and Uma gave birth to their daughter in 2012. They called off their engagement for a second time in 2014. Rumors that they were back together surfaced in March after they were spotted enjoying a romantic vacation together in St. Barts.

Thurman was married to actor Gary Oldman from 1990 until 1992. Then, in 1998, she married Hawke with whom she shares two children, daughter Maya and son Levon. The couple divorced seven years later, in 2005. Thurman has also been romantically linked to actor Timothy Hutton, hotelier Andre Balazs, and in 2014, she and her longtime pal, director Quentin Tarantino, sparked rumors of romance when they were photographed kissing after having dinner together at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills. Uma has always maintained that their relationship is purely platonic.

“I was discussing [the rumors] with Mr Tarantino last night. He was angry at me for not calling him back because as he said, ‘According to the papers we are practically married!’ and he laughed hysterically,” she said in an interview with Vs. magazine, excerpted by the Daily Mail, “So our relationship is pretty much what it’s always been; people are just having fun with it.”

Meanwhile, Tarantino has said that Uma “would really like to do” Kill Bill 3, as a previous Inquisitr article reports, and he’s not ruling out the possibility of another installment.

Busson, who has an estimated net worth of $1 billion, has two sons with model Elle Macpherson. He’s also been romantically linked to The English Patient actress Kristin Scott Thomas. He split from talk show host Chelsea Handler in October 2013 after dating on and off for two years.

Earlier this year, Uma traveled to Africa to take part in a mission to save a mother white rhinoceros and her calf who, along with their species, are under constant threat from poachers.

“It’s a spiritual, surreal experience, to have subdued, without stress, such a prehistoric animal,” she told Town & Country magazine for its October cover story. “To hear its deep breaths, to smell it, to touch its skin – even a rhino has soft bits. To see how delicate they really are, how vulnerable. There is the obvious excitement of it all, but also a quietness in the midst of all the panic.”

Uma Thurman is currently filming the Tim Roth heist comedy The Brits Are Coming in New York. She and Roth play a con-artist couple who flee to Los Angeles to avoid paying a large debt to a gangster.
