‘Scream Queens’ Star Keke Palmer Calls Series ‘A Dream Come True,’ Plus New Guest Stars Announced

With Fox’s newest horror comedy Scream Queens getting ready to premiere soon, Keke Palmer recently sat down with Variety to discuss her role in the new series. Palmer plays the self-assured sorority pledge, Zayday, in the Ryan Murphey-inspired series.

In regard to her role on the show, Palmer expressed that she is thrilled to be a part of such a great series.

“It’s been a dream come true. You get to grow on the show. You get to be a part of creating your character,” she stated. “The way the writers go about it, they input part of who you are – and they exaggerate it. Whether it’s more funny or more dramatic, they just take little bits and expand on them. It makes it fun for you because you get to go deeper into that part of you that you didn’t know was there.”

Palmer also discussed what it is like working with Murphy, and revealed how she is often allowed a lot of freedom with how she portrays her character.

“It’s really different working with Ryan. He’s the type of director that lets you do your thing. That can be nerve-wracking as an actor because depending on your experience, you might have been with a lot of directors who over-direct or directors who are very specific,” she said. “It’s not very often that you get directors like Ryan who trust you so much with what he feels you can do with the character that he lets you go off the rails a bit.”

Palmer admitted, however, that working with Murphy was initially a frightening prospect. “It was scary at first when I first start working with him. But then I realized what he was doing was make me independent as an actor. He brought out the best out in me”

Meanwhile, starring alongside Palmer in Scream Queens are the likes of Emma Roberts, Skyler Samuels, Lea Michele, Glen Powell, and Jamie Lee Curtis. In terms of guest stars, the show is also set to include a number of exciting cameos, including a former One Tree Hill star.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Chad Michael Murray is set to play the role of Brad Radwell in the first season of Scream Queens. Brad is the older sibling of Powell’s character in the series, Chad. Speaking of the Radwells, the show will also feature Patrick Schwarzenegger as the youngest member of the Radwell family.

The first episode of Scream Queens is set to premiere September 22 on Fox.
