T.I. Squashes Rumors About His Split From Iggy Azalea, ‘That’s Still My Partner’

Rapper T.I. set the record straight about his working relationship with rapper Iggy Azalea. Reports that the “No Mediocre” rapper would no longer be working with Azalea surfaced when he was quoted on a radio interview as saying that he “took a bit of a rest stop.” Everyone took this to mean that he would no longer be working with Azalea.

As reported by Page Six, T.I. squashed the rumors of his split from Azalea through an interview with the Associated Press on Thursday night (September 17). T.I. said that the words were taken out of context and cleared the air saying that he still saw Iggy Azalea as a “little sister.”

T.I. further explained that Azalea is “still my partner” and she is still signed with his label, Grand Hustle. He explained the dynamic between himself and Azalea, and where they stood in their professional relationship.

“Her life has taken her in a different direction. My life is still as it was before. But Iggy is doing what she feels makes Iggy happy. That’s what she should do. We’re focused on making the next Iggy record and dodge the same adversities we faced last time.”

Many people assumed T.I. was ending the working relationship because of issues she was having because of cultural differences. The Inquisitr reported that he mentioned the negative attention Iggy Azalea received during his radio interview.

“It’s very difficult to be the new kid and to be the butt of the jokes and to be directed, like, be the direction of all the negativity, you know what I mean?… [Iggy] came at a time when culturally, this nation — she’s not from here — we were actually looking for a source for somewhere to place some pent-up aggression.”

The rapper further elaborated that he wasn’t through with Azalea over the beef she had with rapper Q-Tip.

“It’s definitely not a ‘sever my ties, walk away, I’m upset’ thing. It was more so like, OK, you have a lot on your plate right now. I’m going to pull back or wait until you come to a place where you’re ready to come back to the table, so we can start again and make history some more.”

T.I. also let everyone in on the level of communication that he and the “Fancy” rapper share. He said that after the radio interview was misconstrued, Azalea didn’t attempt to contact him. The only communication Iggy Azalea had about her thoughts on the misinformation was a few tweets on her Twitter account that were obviously directed towards T.I.

The “About the Money” rapper said that he and Azalea don’t need words to be able to be on the same page with each other, though.

“We speak to each other without having to speak to each other. It’s funny sometimes, but we’re straight.”

It’s certainly good news for fans to hear that T.I. and Iggy Azalea will continue to work together, and hopefully they can sort out their communication issues.
