Xbox One The Ultimate Console: Microsoft Edge Browser, Mouse And Keyboard Compatibility On The Way

Xbox One continues to bring itself to greater and greater heights, as it continues to get trumped in sales hardware and software sales by its close competitor, the PlayStation 4. As Microsoft brings unbelievable and ground-breaking upgrades to the Windows 10, it doesn’t forget to bring with it its gaming console, the Xbox One.

One of the better pieces of news that came with Windows 10 is the ditching (sort of) of its trademark browser, the Internet Explorer, with a newer browser called Microsoft Edge. Those looking at new Xbox One upgrades when it comes to web browsing will be happy to know that Microsoft has already confirmed that Microsoft Edge is indeed coming to Xbox One. While still on the works, Microsoft has brought down a final “yes.”

Today, the Microsoft team answered to hundreds and thousands of queries from Windows and Xbox One users the world over, and one of the precious gems that reached the radar of Neowin is that Microsoft Edge is coming to Xbox One.

During the Q&A, Twitter user and Xbox One owner @SHarshaT fired a question to the Microsoft Edge Dev team regarding Microsoft Edge’s future in Xbox One.

Our next question now is, how soon is soon? Xbox One is starting to roll out The New Xbox One Experience with the Xbox One Preview Program, and we hope that Microsoft Edge is somewhere along its edges. Anyway, talk of the Microsoft Edge coming to Xbox One already sparked as early as four months ago on sites like SegmentNext, who spotted the Microsoft Edge Dev team confirming Microsoft Edge’s version on Xbox One to be in the pipeline. At that time, however, the Dev team did clarify that they are currently focusing on ironing out Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 and Windows mobile devices before starting on their work on the Xbox One. It seems Xbox One is truly on its way on becoming the ultimate console, what with its Windows 10 streaming compatibility, Xbox 360 backwards compatibility, and even mouse and keyboard compatibility in the works. In July, Xbox boss Phil Spencer went to Twitter to confirm the future of mouse and keyboard compatibility with the Xbox One.

As of now, Extreme Tech emphasizes that standard keyboard and mouse accessories could already be plugged in the Xbox One console via usb, but they can’t be used for gaming yet. While controllers are still the preferred tool of destruction of many Xbox One users, an elite few still prefer the precision of the point-and-click with a mouse, so Xbox One working on the keyboard and mouse compatibility is indeed great news.

It seems Microsoft isn’t running out of new things to add to the Xbox One console any time soon. Stay tuned for updates on the keyboard and mouse compatibility and Microsoft Edge release on Xbox One.
