‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6: Do We Have Our First Image Still Of Paul ‘Jesus’ Monroe?

With AMC releasing a spate of image stills from Season 6 of The Walking Dead, it appears there are also some on-set images. One of these images apparently shows the introduction of comic book character Paul “Jesus” Monroe. As yet, though, it is unknown who plays this character or if indeed this new character is actually Jesus.

Warning: This article contains potential spoilers for Season 6 of AMC’s The Walking Dead. Please proceed with caution if you have not viewed everything up to, and including, the Season 5 finale.

According to the Wikia page on Jesus, he is “first encountered in Issue 91 of Image Comics’ The Walking Dead and is a survivor and resident who lived in a community called the Hilltop Colony which held almost two hundred other survivors.” Jesus is, at first, mistrusted by Rick but eventually becomes a trusted ally.

So far, there has been little reliable evidence to suggest Jesus would appear in Season 6 of The Walking dead beyond the direction Season 5 was heading, an image on The Spoiling Dead of what could potentially be the Hilltop Colony and a casting call for a character called “Jason.” According to Wetpaint, the casting call asked for “a Caucasian/Latino male in his 20s-30s and is described as ‘smart, friendly, and charming with a puckish sense of humor.'” The description also stated that the character could “be a thief, but he’ll only steal half of what you have, and only if he knows it won’t cause any permanent damage. He’s generally a benevolent guy — pretty much making friends with everyone he meets.”

However, now ET Online has released some exclusive images of on-set photos that could prove Jesus is joining the cast in Season 6. One image in particular shows what appears to be a new character standing with cast regulars Norman Reedus (as Daryl Dixon), Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz), and Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun). While this person could be anyone — including a member of the crew — as ET Online points out, he’s the “spitting image of how Jesus looks in Robert Kirkman’s critically acclaimed graphic novels.” You can check out the image of the potential Paul “Jesus” Monroe here and compare it with the comic book image of Jesus below.
