Hillary Clinton Raves About ‘Inspirational’ Kim Kardashian, Kanye West
Nineteenth Century novelist Charles Dudley Warner gets credit for the adage “Politics makes strange bedfellows.” But while the celebrated Harper’s Magazine writer didn’t live long enough to meet Hillary Clinton and Kim Kardashian, the sentiment behind his famous musing rings true with regard to the presidential hopeful’s public courting of one of the world’s famous fashion models.
As reported by Vanity Fair, Hillary Clinton recently sat down for an interview with Mario Lopez of the television show Extra. In a short but wide-ranging interview, Lopez sought Clinton’s opinions on political issues but he also waded into the world of fashion and entertainment with the Democratic contender.
Asked whether or not Kim Kardashian is a good role model for women, Clinton discussed her first encounter with the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star. The two women met at a fundraiser for Clinton back in August.
“I think all of us in our own ways can be inspirational or aspirational for people, and I certainly think many people see her as someone who gets up every day and tries to figure out how to make that day successful.”
Clinton also fondly recalled her interaction with the supermodel and commented on meeting Mrs. Kardashian-West’s doting husband, rapper and producer Kanye West.
“You know, I just met her for the first time. She came to one of my fundraisers in Los Angeles, and I really enjoyed meeting her; I really found her to be warm and very personable … She had a nice way of introducing her husband, as if I didn’t know who he was.”
At the fundraiser, Hillary Clinton also posed for a selfie with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Kim later posted the photo to Instagram and Twitter with the caption, “kimkardashian I got my selfie!!! I really loved hearing her speak & hearing her goals for our country! #HillaryForPresident.”

According to USA Today, the fundraiser was held at the Los Angeles home of Justin Bieber’s manager. Tickets were $2,700 per person and an estimated 250 people attended the event.
New York Daily News noted that Hillary Clinton also shared some advice for Kanye West during her chat with erstwhile teen heartthrob Mario Lopez. Referencing West’s recent announcement that he’s running for president in 2020, Hillary suggested he wait a bit longer if she is in the market for her second term. Beyond that, she suggested that he’ll need “comfortable shoes” for the long and demanding campaign trail. Then again, if Hillary isn’t on the path to reelection at that point, she could probably still offer some poignant advice to Kim Kardashian on how to be the First Lady.
