Shadow Towers, New Lunar Lancer Class Added To ‘Trove’ With Its First Update Since The Official Launch

New Shadow Towers and the Lunar Lancer are now available in Trove. The first update since its official launch, “Rise of the Shadow Tower Update” adds these new features in addition to new Legendary Tomes, Challenge changes, and many other fixes. Shadow Towers replace the randomly spawning Shadow Arena and the Lunar Lancer wields a spear in the new update according to the official Trove website.

Players can access the new Shadow Tower by crafting a Shadow Tower portal via the Adventurer’s Crafting Bench. Shadow Keys unlock normal mode while the new Moon Key accesses the hard mode. The patch notes on the Trove forums explain more about the Shadow Tower feature in addition to listing a number of fixes made with the patch. For example, characters can now sport a bald hairstyle, the Consecutive Days badge has been cut in half, and controller support has added functionality.

The hourly challenges in Trove have also been improved with a new cache that has three times as many Dragon Souls and more Dragon Souls. Eyes of Q’bthulhu no longer drop from these caches and less flux is found in them as well. Moreover, there are only three steps to a challenge versus the previous four and finishing guarantees a non-tradable Dragon Soul.

Players can also pick up the new Lunacy Pack, which accompanies the new content patch. This pack includes the Lunar Lancer, two costumes for the class, two foxy mounts, and two legendary tomes. The two tomes are a little different from the tomes players are accustomed to equipping in Trove. Instead of triggering every time the required amount of experience is earned, the Dragon Coin Digest and the Chaos Codex can only be triggered once a week for a nice bonus. The Dragon Coin Digest will offer up three Dragon Coins while the Chaos Codex will reward the player with 10 Chaos Chests. The Lunacy Pack includes all of this for a discounted $20.

These two new legendary tomes can also be purchased separately in the store for 2500 Credits each. Two more legendary tomes have also been added to the game as rewards for completing Shadow Tower runs. With the right currency, players can also pick up a legendary Eye of Q’bthulhu and Tentacle of Q’bthulhu tomes. The former rewards 300 eyes once a week while the latter gives up 20 tentacles once a week.

Since its move from open beta to official launch in July, Trove has seen nearly as high as a 60,000 player peak via the Steam client. That many players eager to try out the voxel based adventure caused a few problems at launch, but Trove developers were quick to alleviate queues. Not to mention, compensation was even rolled out to affected players according to the Inquisitr. The numbers have since calmed down with nearly 20,000 players logging into Trove today according to the Steam Stats page.
