Elton John Hospitalized, Shows Cancelled

A serious respiratory infection put Elton John in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Wednesday. The 65-year-old singer was forced to cancel four concerts in Las Vegas.

John developed the infection last weekend which later worsened, resulting in his hospitalization. Doctors performed extensive tests, and advised John to take a break from performing for roughly a week. He was told to simply rest and undergo antibiotic treatment, resulting in the cancellation of his Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday shows in Vegas, reports E!Online.

Despite this, The Rocket Man doesn’t think it’s gonna be a long, long time before he’s back on his feet doing what he does best.

“It feels strange not to be able to perform these ‘Million Dollar Piano’ concerts at The Colosseum,’ John said in a statement. “I love performing this show and I will be thrilled when we return to The Colosseum in October to complete the eleven concerts soon to be scheduled. All I can say to the fans is sorry I can’t be with you. I hope to see you soon at this wonderful theatre at Caesars Palace.”

Caesars Palace announced that John was expected to return to its Colosseum later in the year for more performances. In the meantime, those who bought tickets may exchange them or get a refund.

IQ wishes Elton John a speedy recovery.
