Jack The Ripper Haunts ‘Assassin’s Creed Syndicate’ As DLC, Season Pass Announced

The Victorian setting of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is a ripe setting for one of history’s most infamous serial killers. Ubisoft announced the inclusion of Jack the Ripper in the upcoming PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC game as a DLC expansion with Season Pass details also revealed.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is set in London around 1868 during the Industrial Revolution. Players will experience this tumultuous time in England’s history and set up their own gangs to fight against robber barons and the established order, all controlled by the Templars. For Jack the Ripper, though, the timeline will jump ahead 20 years.

“Set during the Autumn of Terror in Whitechapel, 1888, a killer’s abominable acts of murder and mutilation terrorize London, creating widespread panic and worldwide media attention,” Ubisoft announced for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. “Players will join forces with Inspector Frederick Abberline of Scotland Yard to hunt down Jack the Ripper in a deadly game of cat and mouse with the infamous serial killer.”

The man dubbed “Jack the Ripper” following a letter to the press was thought responsible for the killing of five female prostitutes in London’s Whitechapel area in 1888. Unprecedented media coverage of the savage murders at the time, combined a certain level of notoriety through many works of fiction, solidified the killer into a legendary serial murderer of sorts. A bit of a harbinger of the modern press.

The Jack the Ripper campaign is not the only DLC coming to Assassin’s Creed Synidcate. Ubisoft announced its Season Pass plans with details for all of the content that is included. It is a mix of new missions, weapons, gear, and outfits that can all be purchased separately as well. Prices have not been announced.

Here is all of the DLC announced for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate so far.

  • Jack the Ripper campaign
  • The Last Maharaja mission pack: Discover ten brand-new missions set within London and join Duleep Singh to reclaim his birthright as the Maharaja. In his quest to reclaim his heritage, he will take on the Templars and test his friendship with the queen.
  • A Long Night exclusive mission: Help Jacob track down an endangered fellow gang member and bring him back to the hideout in a fast-paced, wild and dangerous ride.
  • Streets of London gameplay pack: Gain access to over one hour of extra gameplay via new missions, and obtain additional weapons, gear and outfits.
  • Two top-tier sets of gear and weapons: Give your arsenal a steam-powered twist with the Steampunk Pack and immerse yourself in the most famous novels of the Victorian era with the Victorian Legends Pack. Both sets include state-of-the art gear and weapons, as well as a new outfit.
  • Exclusive XP boost: All Season Pass holders receive an exclusive permanent XP boost.

The Season Pass will be included as part of the Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Gold Edition. The game will release on October 23 for PS4 and Xbox One, while Windows PC gamers will have to wait until November 19.
