‘Bloodborne: The Old Hunters’ DLC Revealed At TGS 2015 For PS4

The PlayStation 4 exclusive Bloodborne is ready to bloody console gamers some more this fall. Sony announced The Old Hunters expansion during its Tokyo Game Show 2015 press conference on Tuesday, and it is coming this November.

From Software will release Bloodborne: The Old Hunters DLC on November 24 for $20. Meanwhile, the Bloodborne: The Old Hunters Edition will hit retail stores on December 3, featuring the original game plus the expansion.

Sony Producer Masaaki Yamagiwa explained the setting and other details in a PlayStation Blog post.

“Set in a nightmare world where hunters from the past are trapped forever, explore brand new stages full of dangers, rewards, and deadly beasts to overcome. You’ll find multiple new outfits and weapons to add to your arsenal as well as additional magic to wield and add more variety to your combat strategy.”

With new story details, learn the tale of hunters who once made Yharnam their hunting grounds, meet new NPCs, and discover another side of the history and world of Bloodborne. Here’s a brief glimpse of just some of what lies in store for you when The Old Hunters launches on November 24, including Simon’s Bowblade weapon, and new boss enemy Ludwig.

Bloodborne: The Old Hunters (PS4)

The trailer for The Old Hunters does indeed reveal some of the new weapons including a vicious looking buzz saw/club hybrid weapon, along with the Bowblade mentioned by Yamagiwa above. Even a shield was used at point, suggesting that From Software is going with more diversity and variety with what players can equip for the expansion.

Sony boss Shuhei Yoshida also thanked Bloodborne fans from the Tokyo Game Show 2015 stage, and announced the game has sold more than two million copies since its release in late March. While that’s not Grand Theft Auto-scale sales, it’s a strong performance for a brand new intellectual property released in the action role-playing game with horror elements genre on only one platform. By comparison, Dark Souls II needed an entire year to reach 2.5 million copies sold across five platforms (via Siliconera).

There’s no mention if additional expansions will be released for Bloodborne. The launch of Dark Souls 3 in March, 2016, for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC suggests that The Old Hunters will be the one and only expansion for the game, though.
