Tamra Barney Discusses Brooks Ayers’ ‘Fishy’ Cancer Diagnosis

Does Tamra Barney believe Brooks Ayers is suffering from cancer? While speaking to People Magazine on September 14, the Real Housewives of Orange County star admitted she wasn’t “buying” that Ayers truly has stage 3 Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, as he claims.

“I’m not buying it,” Tamra Barney told the magazine of Ayers’ diagnosis. “I’m not a doctor, but I feel like it’s fishy.”

During The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 10, Ayers began undergoing chemotherapy, but later revealed he was taking another approach, and would instead be getting shots of resveratrol, a substance found in red wine. Right away, members of the cast, including Tamra Barney, began to question his treatment decision.

“I don’t know a lot about cancer but you don’t do three rounds of chemo and go, ‘ehh I don’t want to do it anymore.’ I can understand if you were deathly ill and chemo was giving you secondary infections and you couldn’t leave your bed and you were so sick that you go, ‘I don’t want this,’ but when you are going to Mexico and having drinks at parties and you’re like ‘ehh…’. It’s just weird… The whole cast is like, ‘this does not sound right.’ “

Last week, Tamra Barney’s newest co-star, Meghan King Edmonds, spoke out about her thoughts on Ayers’ diagnosis, as well, and during her interview with People Magazine, she revealed she simply does not believe Ayers’ claims.

“Every single person thinks what I am verbalizing… [As for] the answer to the question ‘Does Brooks have cancer?’… I don’t think so, but I can’t disprove that. The only thing that can actually prove or disprove it is medical records, and the only person who has access to those is the individual.”

Despite Tamra Barney and Edmonds’ statements, Ayers insists he will soon be vindicated on The Real Housewives of Orange County, which will air his medical records in a later episode.

Tamra Barney has been a close friend of Vicki Gunvalson, Ayers’ ex-boyfriend, for several years, so her comments about his cancer are sure to come as bad news to Gunvalson, who continues to defend Ayers online and on the show. While there have been claims of Gunvalson dumping Ayers due to his “fake cancer,” Barney recently confirmed that was not the case, as it was actually Ayers who decided to end their four-year relationship.
