Miss America Stripped Of Crown? Petition Demands Miss Georgia Lose Her Title After Tom Brady Comments
Should Miss America be stripped of her crown? At least 900 people think so, and have signed a petition demanding the Miss America organization strip Miss Georgia, Betty Cantrell, of her title because of the answer she gave during the interview portion of the pageant. The petition is on Change.org, and requests the attention of Sam Haskell, the executive chairman and CEO of the Miss America organization.
The petition reads as follows.
“We, the public, feel that Miss Georgia’s interview answer regarding ‘deflategate’ and Tom Brady’s alleged involvement was completely without merit. Miss Georgia clearly did not know the details surrounding ‘deflategate’ and that Tom Brady’s ‘general awareness’ of the so called deflation of game balls was not enough to label him a cheater.
It is under these terms that we ask for the newly crowned Miss America to be stripped of her crown and to be dethroned immediately. To suggest that someone who simply has been questioned for something, is automatically guilty is an injustice to our American way of life… the exact opposite of what the title of Miss America stands for.”
Before being crowed Miss America, Betty Cantrell was asked if she thought that Tom Brady cheated during a football game in which he was accused of deflating footballs. According to USA Today, Cantrell’s response caused quite a bit of backlash.
“If there was question there, then yes, I think he cheated. If there was any question to be had I think that he definitely cheated, and that he should’ve been suspended for that,” she responded. People were outraged, especially New England Patriots fans who took to social media to bash the brunette beauty.

Many felt that Cantrell’s answer was completely ridiculous, and that she had no right to “assume” that Tom Brady cheated just because he was accused of doing so.
