DeOrr Kunz Jr Case Takes Turn: New ‘Solid’ Lead In Toddler’s Disappearance Involves ‘Suspicious Man’

The DeOrr Kunz Jr. case has made a turn after the missing toddler’s parents hired a private detective to investigate their son’s disappearance.

The toddler went missing on July 10 while camping with his parents and grandfather at Timber Creek Campground near Leadore. For weeks, searchers combed the area and surrounding areas, but there was no sign of the little boy.

Fox 5 reports that Deorr Kunz Jr.’s parents hired Montpelier-based private detective Frank Vilt. The detective reveals that he’s received several tips about a “suspicious man” who was spotted near Leadore, and in Swan Valley, which is east of Idaho Falls.

The man is said to be in his 50s and having “whitish, gray hair with curls at the bottom.” Witnesses say he was driving a newer model black Jeep Rubicon.

This could be a solid lead in the Deorr Kunz case, since the boy’s mother remembers seeing the man at a Leadore store on the very morning of the day that her son went missing. There was also a couple who noticed a man with a similar description on July 18 while hiking in the Palisades — they then saw him later at a convenience store in Swan Valley.

A woman in Swan Valley asked not to be identified, but she said the man “was just staring at my family, just watching us.” She told the investigator that he kept staring at her husband and four children. One of their children is the same age as Deorr Kunz Jr.

The woman’s husband went on to say that he felt very uncomfortable with the “suspicious man” leering at them.

“My husband said to me, ‘That man creeps me out in about 12 different ways.’ “

As the woman and her family ate ice cream outside of the Rainey Creek Country Store in Swan Valley, the man sat in his jeep watching them.

“I tried to wave at the man because he was obviously watching, and he, at that time, turned his head.”

When the woman heard about Kunz’s disappearance, she reported him to law enforcement in Lemhi County on July 19. She’s now informed Vilt about the man and hopes to have a sketch of the suspicious man next week.

If anyone has seen this man who’s a person of interest in the Deorr Kunz Jr. case, Vilt wants to hear from you. His hotline is 888-852-6505.

Vilt is also offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the missing toddler’s whereabouts.

According to East Idaho News, Frank Vilt is a retired U.S. Marshal and continues to meet with all members of the Kunz family in the investigation.
