Chloe Bennet On Her ‘Marvel’s Agents Of SHIELD’ Costume: ‘It Was Really, Really Fun To Put It On’

Marvel has released a first look at the outfit to be worn by Chloe Bennet in Season 3 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., when the actress returns as Quake, but, according to the L.A. Times, fans aren’t the only ones excited by the new outfit for Bennet’s character. Chloe herself recounts how thrilling it was to be included in the creative aspect of her Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. character’s outfit.

“It was really, really fun to put it on. With the inner geek in me — and growing up with six brothers — I was never really interested in being the princess. I was more into being someone who kicked… and was a superhero. So, that was a dream come true,” said Bennet. “It was cool to be a part of the process in helping to design the outfit.”

The darker outfit will be a part of Chloe’s promotion on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as a full-fledged agent when the series returns. Cosmic Book News reports that Bennet’s character will join Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) in the search for Inhumans, which will have Bennet and Gregg facing new rivals in the third season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Due to Quake’s ability to generate massive amounts of force as a part of her Inhuman abilities, special considerations had to be recognized in the creation of Bennet’s new outfit. Costume designer Ann Foley and actress Chloe Bennet were both particularly excited about the addition of Quake’s gauntlets, which help her control her vibrational powers, as well as looking good on Bennet.

“It’s only something that Daisy would have and is specific to her earthquake powers,” says Bennet. “It’s a practical part of [the costume], cause when you put this on in real life, it’s not that practical! I always wondered why superheroes wear such tight outfits, cause they’re really tight and really limiting. It works onscreen, though.”

Meanwhile, Season 3 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. picks up months after the battle with the group of rogue Inhumans, and the agency is still reeling from their losses, with Coulson trying to reassemble the organization.

“Many months after their war with a rogue group of Inhumans, the team is still reeling. Coulson is again trying to put the pieces of his once revered organization back together while also dealing with the loss of his hand. His confidante and second in command, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), has yet to return from an impromptu vacation with ex-husband Andrew (Blair Underwood); deadly superspy Agent Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki) is recovering from her traumatic torture at the hands of Grant Ward (Brett Dalton); Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) is obsessed with discovering the truth behind the mysterious disappearance of Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge); and all are on high-alert for the next move from Ward and Hydra.”

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premieres on Tuesday, September 29, on ABC.
