Lorde could come out with an album as soon as this year, a new report from KpopStarz teased this week.
According to the report, rumors are swirling that Lorde will drop her latest album this year or the beginning of the first quarter in 2016. The album will be different from her previous compilation, Pure Heroine, Lorde said in the interview.
“I wrote the last album about that world which was the suburb where I grew up and populated by my friends and people who were really familiar to me. Now I’m in a different place every day and I’m with new people every day and it’s a different vibe.”
Lorde has not announced the official release date. What could spur Lorde to drop the album this year is how fast the “Tennis Court” singer can write her new songs.
“We haven’t got some planned out ‘this is what it’s going to sound like.’ I think we’re just going to start writing and when it starts to feel right, we’ll know that it’s right. It’s pretty simple really.”
As far as where her inspiration for writing the new songs comes from, Lorde has previously credited that to her various experiences. But for her new album, Lorde could not pinpoint where her inspiration was coming from.
“I don’t know where the inspiration comes from for stuff. You work and at some point you feel you suck for the first 10 hours and in the last hour in the studio something great happens. You just never know when it’s going to come.”
The report seems to concur with what Lorde has posted on Twitter. A few weeks ago, Lorde wrote that she was inside a recording studio working, but she did not detail what the effort was working toward.
Could that effort be focused on the recent collaboration between Lorde and Disclosure? The band released a snippet of the new song “Magnets” that they worked with Lorde to create, Spin reported September 13. The electric duo gushed about the way Lorde helped them bring the song to life – and potentially make it a hit song – Disclosure’s Guy Lawrence said in the interview with the news outlet.
