WWE News: Trish Stratus Returning To The Ring? WWE Teasing That The WWE Hall Of Famer Will Be Part Of The ‘Divas Revolution’

On September 17, 2006, WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus retired from being a full-time WWE diva after defeating longtime friend and rival Lita, and winning the WWE Women’s Championship for a record seventh time. With her victory over Lita, Trish was able to ride off into the sunset as arguably the greatest women’s wrestler in WWE history.

Since her retirement, Trish has made several appearances for WWE, wrestling in a handful of matches, most notably the six-person mixed tag at WrestleMania 27, where she teamed up with John Morrison and Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi of Jersey Shore fame, and defeated the team of Michelle McCool, Layla, and Dolph Ziggler.

Trish hasn’t wrestled since WrestleMania 27, but, WWE is teasing on Twitter that the seven-time Women’s Champion may return to action and take part in the “WWE Divas Revolution.”

Earlier this month, Trish was asked about a possible return to the ring. Specifically, she was asked if she would be interested in returning to the ring with Lita to take on the current WWE Divas Champion Nikki Bella, and her sister Brie, and Trish seemed more than open to the idea.

“You know, I gotta hand it to Topps. For months, during the Team Bestie Tour, [Lita] and I heard so many questions about Besties vs. Bellas. This preview of what it would look like if we squared off in a tag team match certainly has me thinking.”

“I don’t mind an easy win. I think the idea is interesting. Team Bestie is up for anything. If the fans want it, who knows? When [Lita] and I were working against each other, we were having fantastic matches because we knew each other’s motions and body movements. I think as a team we could utilize that same chemistry, but channel it in a different way.”

Since Trish and Lita ended their full-time WWE careers, there hasn’t been a single women’s wrestler who has been able to come close to making the impact in the women’s division — on the WWE main-roster at least — that the two WWE Hall of Famers were able to make.

Now, WWE is really trying to get their Divas to the Trish and Lita level, but it’s not quite working out the way they had planned. So, perhaps a brief Trish and Lita return could be just what WWE needs to get this “Divas Revolution” storyline headed in the right direction.
