Nicki Minaj wowed fans at this year’s New York Fashion Week not only with her clothing choices, but also with her potential music choices.

The Weeknd was also at this event, which occurred hours before the teasing post. As HotNewHipHop reports, Nicki Minaj and The Weeknd have never collaborated, although they have common interests and famous friends.

Minaj is no stranger to making headlines, as she’s done several times after the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards for her choices in words and duets at the event. Fashion headlines are a welcomed change. According to BET, Nicki Minaj could be seen in the front row of many fashion shows including Alexander Wang, Givenchy and others. Nicki was seen taking selfies with other fashion-minded celebrities like June Ambrose, rock legend Debbie Harry, and Ciara.

Reports The Mirror, Nicki wore a revealing dress made of a black and nude-colored mesh overlay. Underneath was a cream bralet, which was a design by Alexander Wang, whose SS16 show she was attending. The event also marked the 10 year anniversary of the launch of Wang’s eponymous brand. It was held at Midtown Manhattan’s Pier 92. Watching the show alongside Nicki Minaj were other fashion trendsetters like Kylie Jenner and boyfriend Tyga, Kanye West, and Lady Gaga.

But what really captured the attention of fans of Nicki Minaj was the possibility of a collaboration with Canadian R&B musician The Weeknd. With Nicki Minaj so far keeping tight lipped, it’s unclear if this was a planned collaboration or a spontaneous one.

Fashion Week can be a lucrative time to network with other celebrities and discuss future projects. A sound that blends Nicki Minaj’s pop vocals with The Weeknd’s alternative rhythm would be an interesting combination. Such joint ventures are increasingly becoming a staple of the music industry, with songs like “Marvin Gaye” by R&B singer Charlie Puth and Pop singer Meghan Trainor currently lighting up the charts.

Nicki Minaj has kept herself busy this past year, having just ended her “Pink Print” world tour which included stops in countries throughout Europe, Asia, Australia and North America. That doesn’t even include her time spent in feuds with other leading ladies in the music industry.

The Weeknd has also been busy as his album Beauty Behind the Madness just took the top slot on the Billboard 200. Both artists are at the top of their respective games and a collaboration could do well to broaden their audience demographic.
