Julianne and Derek Hough Take Home Emmy For DWTS Choreography, Pro Dancer Shows Just How Excited He Is

It’s an Emmy for Derek Hough and his sister Julianne Hough. The brother-sister duo took home an award for Outstanding Choreography at the 2015 Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday, as reported by The Daily Mail. Tessandra Chavez, who also collaborated with Derek and Julianne, went home with an award in hand as well. They were not the only recipients of this award as Travis Wall of So You Think You Can Dance won in this same category.

The Hough’s performed the winning choreographed dance to Sia’s “Elastic Heart” on the Dancing with the Stars finale and it was amazing. It certainly showed off Derek’s talent and imagination that he incorporates into his dances. Julianne was also impressive as the twosome mesmerized everyone on the ballroom floor.

They were both overjoyed that they won the Emmy, but it was Derek who showed just how he felt about this win. He took to his Instagram to post this comment after the win.

“Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat????? So happy to share this with @tessandrachavez and my awesome sister @juleshough. Not to mention the brilliant @traviswall!!! #EMMYS #nowords #grateful.”

He also took his expert dancing skills and took a leap into the air with the award in hand for the cameras on the red carpet. He then did a one-handed pose with the Emmy in front of him. He looked to be having a blast. Hough also showed off his impressive way of doing some push-ups.

The 30-year-old pro dancer also got his collaborators involved in the fun. Julianne and Tessandra did a couple poses of their own. However, their feet were firmly planted on the ground. The girls’ dresses were way too lovely to ruin them. Tessandra had on a unique black and bronze number complete with black gloves, while Julianne Hough chose a sparkly orange Jenny Packham dress. They both looked stunning.

Derek Hough will be showing off his dance moves once again when Dancing with the Stars premieres on Monday night. He has been paired up with wildlife enthusiast Bindi Irwin and it looks like they are having a blast already as they have been practicing their hearts out. Just Jared posted some photos of Derek having an up-close and personal meeting with a Burmese Python named Sunny. The reptile was wrapped around Bindi’s body during a flash mob number that they were practicing for DWTS. Val Chmerkovskiy was also seen getting to know the snake.

It will be another interesting season of Dancing with the Stars with Derek Hough taking to the dance floor again, and his sister Julianne at the judge’s table. Maybe Derek will choreograph another amazing number with her sometime during the season.
