Though the season premiere of Elementary won’t debut until November 5, details are surfacing about what will happen in the course of the season. When we last left Sherlock, he was in a very dark place, tangling once again with drug addiction.
Entertainment Weekly has shared that during Season 4, we will finally meet Sherlock’s father, Morland Holmes, played by actor John Noble, who travels to New York after hearing that Sherlock is no longer in recovery.
“Once he arrives, Sherlock does not appreciate the attention or the distraction that his dad represents,” executive producer Rob Doherty says. “For him, it’s too little too late. This is a father and a son with a very complicated history. I’d say for at least a couple decades, Sherlock’s father has been out of sight, out of mind. This is going to be a big adjustment for Sherlock to have dad nearby.”
Christian Post is sharing that we will finally get to see first hand the level of resentment between Sherlock and his father.
“I’d say for at least a couple decades, Sherlock’s father has been out of sight, out of mind. This is going to be a big adjustment for Sherlock to have dad nearby,” Doherty told EW.
But why is their relationship so broken? It seems it has a lot to do with another member of the Holmes family, Sherlock’s mother.
Design & Trend is also revealing that Sherlock and Joan will find themselves out of a job with the NYPD when the fourth season starts, at least for a little while, as Sherlock is still in trouble for beating Oscar in the season finale. We will also get to learn more about Joan’s background and the dynamic that exists in her family.
“In a lot of respects, her family situation is as complicated as Sherlock’s,” Doherty said.
Reality Today is reporting that the first few episodes of the season will depend heavily on the dynamic of Sherlock and his father. Morland is the one who paid for Sherlock to go to rehab, and originally employed Joan as a sober companion if you remember Season 1.
